studio pierrot
later compounded by the source material turning to shit
>Tokyo Ghoul
Does not exist outside of the soundtrack. Read the manga.
>turn to shit
man, you crazy. this series only got better when RE kicked in. the only part i'd criticize is the ending.
Anime Original garbage which is turned obsolete by them going back to following the manga with the next season. Then trying to cram the entire 180 chapters of the sequel into 24 episodes, half of which were garbage.
This. The anime is a huge clusterfuck and a disappointment. The OST is its only redeeming quality.
The anime couldve been saved if they at least followed thr original ending of the prequel. There would still many things be left out like characerization etc. but at least season 3 would make a little bit more sense. Read the manga, regardless.
Also the god awful art and animation for S3 and 4.
That's basically just a given when it's pierrot though. 8/10 they don't deliver Root A was shit as well and even S1 was by no means amazing.
What I always asked myself: how did the manga manage to sell consistently well (700-800k each volume is high for seinen) despite the anime holding it back?
Because I mean, it was just good. Also the first season, and to a lesser extent the second, were surprisingly popular despite being average adaptations at best.
What a disgrace holy fuck
Seinen? Are you retarded? It literally has power levels and transformations.
Are you that much of a teen to think seinen is a genre?
I know it's sounds stupid but it's a seinen
Published on Young Jump. A seinen magazine. Yes, I think it's indeed a seinen.
>Outsourced studios
fixed
Pierrot barely worked on Tokyo Ghoul after S1.
>The manga is a huge clusterfuck and a disappointment
Fixed
sounds like a bleachfag trying to act like pierrot is good now that it's adapting the end of his favourite series kek
After the Auction Arc. Though honestly the Tsukiyama Raid arc was good, then it went back to being shit.
>Read the manga.
>The anime is a huge clusterfuck
>Implying the manga didn't completely shit the bed towards the end
>(700-800k each volume is high for seinen)
Tokyo Ghoul isn't really truly seinen though, everything about it screams battle shounen, but just more edgy. Normalfags eat it up.
Why do so many retards with zero knowledge browse this site? also, i'm probably stupid for feeding (you)'s
200+ chapters of consisent good and coherent storytelling week after week without prior experience in this industry, is a feat on its own desu. That the author eventually got burned out was unfortunate but sadly inevitable, considering the amount of side projects he worked on simultaneously.
Does "young jump" sound like very seinen? Okay, it has gore, does not make mature, and everyone into this is aged 10-16, people like us don't count since we read/watch everything.
By your "standards" stuff like Kingdom or Berserk also isn't considered Seinen because "gore" and "battle shonen" like type. But it doesn't work like that, user. Shounen, Seinen etc. are merely demographics and only categorized by the magazine they're being published in. A shonen can have more thought provoking themes and display "maturity" than a Seinen, Shoujo or whatever and vice versa. Stop embarassing yourself now
Kingdom is shounen, berserk is not.
>Watch a horror movie
>Don't find it scary
>The movie stops being horror since I don't find it scary
S1 was bad too it only had a good beginning and ending. S2 and everything else was just so irredeemably shit that s1 look good by comparison.
Exactly this. Manga's part 1 is excellent and even then the studio managed to make it average at best. Part 2 is abyssmal so it was no surprise that the anime was going to be completely atrocious.
holy shit i dropped s3 after a few episodes but I never knew they butchered the art this badly
>but I never knew they butchered the art this badly
i mean honestly, it would be hard not to butcher it. ishida did ridiculously well to pump out stuff like that on a weekly basis.
>Kishimoto returned but his new series flopped
>now Kubo returned
So, when will Ishiggy return and start a new Party™?
Maybe in a year or two when he's done with work on his game.
>work on his game
For real? Fill me in on what he's been up to nowadays, I haven't kept up with his stuff since TG ended.
It's an otome game that he started working on like halfway into :re. That's about it. I don't know how much of it he's really involved with past the illustrations but it's enough. As far as I know that's all he's been doing since :re ended.
>That's about it. I don't know how much of it he's really involved with past the illustrations but it's enough
Quite a lot, actually.
>Ishida is incredibly involved in Jack Jeanne’s development. He created the concept, put together the character designs, and wrote the scenario
So he's pretty much not just the designer, he basically does everything from script to concept and design. Usually what mangaka do who switch from the manga industry to the game industry, is just work as an illustrator/chararacter designer (like Kubo).
Not to mention they started cramming about a dozen chapters into each episode.
I see, thanks.
>otome game
Not my cup of tea desu and I don't even own a Switch. But I'm happy for him that he's trying new stuff and evolving
BASED Ishidafag. He is a talent that the average Yas Forumsnon refuse to appreciate despite how solid his art and TG in general is.
>Not my cup of tea
Same but the art he posts about the characters in the game looks beautiful. Some stuff better than when he was publishing TG, so I'm looking forward to when (if) he returns to manga.
He will likely come back to the manga industry soon enough anyway. He said recently that he missed posting things consistently, which the video game industry doesn't allow him to do. And he really is just fit to being a mangaka I think with how much he interacted with fans and blogging and writing in general and, obviously, goes without saying he clearly has potential not only as an amazing artist but as a writer as well.
Did you see that he wrote lyrics for one of tk from ling tosite sigure's songs? I wonder if it'll be as depressing as the poems he used to write.
>It's an otome game that he started working on like halfway into :re
Someone just posted this in another thread
>it's fucking true
Jesus, was he that much bored of drawing his main series or did he just bite more than he could chew?
I need a new blogpost form the guy. He's been quite for a while now.
Have you read his recent 2019 view post already? If not, read it. He talks a lot about the production of the game and how heavily he's involved in it.
>Jesus, was he that much bored of drawing his main series or did he just bite more than he could chew?
He did get pretty fed up with the series, but it was quite a bit later the halfway point. At some point he just wanted to get things done and over with as fast as possible.
I think he got sick of the schedule and how it was affecting him which in turn, made writing/drawing the series agonizing for him. I think he had things planned for the story to be cohesive but just reached a point where he was like....fuck it.
>watch battle shounen
>power levels and transformations
>watch tokyo ghoul
>power levels and transformations.
The absolute state
I agree, but I also think that the ingame illustrations doesn't do his real art justice. I don't like the way how it looks so "polished" if you get what I mean, it's missing Ishida's gritty aesthetic.
Is that a girl in the middle or one of those femme boys? If so, she's flat as fuck but gorgeous. I like how the two guys look too.
He posted another long post on Note but the person who usually translates it hasn't gotten around to it. I hope they do
Where is this screenshot from? The game doesn't release until late this year.

Ah you're right, but there are two of them still untranslated I think

From the official Jack Jeanne twitter account, you just have to scroll a little bit. They also posted a lot of other merch (illustrations by ishida)
Why do nips love blogposting so much?
If it's actually related to an ongoing work and they just want to share it with their fans what they've been working on, what's wrong about it?
It has always been terrible. But it got really shit because Ishida got tired of it.
It unironically got better and better with each new chapter and peaked up until after Rose Arc where threads would reach 1k+ posts. I wish that it was always terrible, would make it easier for me to look past the series.

I like that he tries his best to work out or go running even though he's a workaholic. Much better than sitting on his ass all day and then stressing about back pains as he gets older
A gem in the sea of shit.
Blame Sui Ishida for root A. He asked for an anime original route for S2 and even helped with the storyboards and scripts. Then it flopped and they did a soft reboot for S3
Why is Kingdom the best selling seinen currently with a literally unknown anime adaptation?
the latter
