Is this series the best manga/anime that gets absolutely no love or fame? I'm a big mark for Black Clover so I realize I may be biased but the series is so good to me.

Goddamn it got me tearing up when they showed that the entirety of Grey's childhood was being told that she should hide her ugly face and cover herself with ashes.
That's why she's always covering her face and not wanting people to see her face, and it's why transformation magic fits her personality, unfortunately.
Anyway that was poetic and we have another example along many of Tabata giving a character a very memorable if caricatured personality at first, and actually properly humanizes them later. And a good example of foreshadowing for her backstory as well.
