Shiggy and Deku are enemy by proxy at best (Shiggy and AfO want AM dead, Deku wants to protect AM) and by profession at worst (one is a villain and the other a pro hero). Just like Hori struggles to build up a rivalry between Bakugou and Deku he also failed at building enmity between Shiggy and Deku.

While I almost fully agree with your analysis, I think you're not entirely correct about the reason why they're ennemies by proxy: the root of the problem lies at both characters' mentors AfO and AM. Shiggy and Deku don't actually care that much about each other yet, because they have yet to fully pick up the mantle of both the pillar of evil and the pillar of peace. The pacing is really bad, but we are slowly getting to the point where both successors are becoming independant from their mentors (Shiggy built his army and learnt leadership/Deku stopped copying AM).
Shiggy and Deku both symbolize the same immortality as Tanjirou, it's just that one of these two just so happens to be one of the most badly written MC WSJ has seen these past few decades.
