The entire premise RELIES on him being a chuuni retard who can't understand the ramifications of his actions or the feelings of those he saves. The second he realizes shadow garden adores him and he can get all the money he wants, the premise of the entire novel collapses and no gag will ever work again.
The misunderstandings ramping up every arc, and him bringing in new characters to add to the mixing pot, is what makes it funny.

The arc was pure kino in retrospect, especially the ending. He ends up saving Shadow garden instead after destroying Alpha 1v1 and mindbreaking her into depression, and inadvertently saves them all with his shitty chuuni ramblings and selfish scheme. Shadow got completely fucked over in the end because all his hard work to earn money at their expense ended up saving shadow garden instead, but it earned him a loyal kitsune pimp who mistakenly believes shadow fought her ex lover over her.

It was never 200 times and the series escalates shadow's misunderstandings in such a way in which it doesn't play off the same exact gag twice, and changes the status quo every time.
The previous 3 arcs have been great because of it, especially since currently he isn't near shadow garden, but is instead interacting with girls in a different country because he's embarrassed about what happened during the trade war arc.

Alpha wants to surpass him and it was evident during the trade war when she tried to fight Shadow 1v1, using skills she learned just to defeat him with. She is starting to suspect Shadow's involvement in the prophecy as well and is practically the head of Shadow garden in all but name.
In truth she's the biggest Shadowfag as she entered a complete depression when she thought Shadow betrayed her.
Alpha might actually be the most interesting character in the long run.
