>could be either a CGDCT at the club level, or a crazy battle shounen at the tournament/grandmaster level

>Chess
>obscure

zoomers for you, everything that is not popular on twitch, twitter, reddit is obscure

That's not how it works

cute girls in cute waistcoats playing cute snooker

What about taikyoku shogi anime?

Attached: taikyoku_shogi.jpg (500x375, 41.23K)

Have you watched Shogi Lolis?

Does shitposting count as a hobby?

Only if you are a cute girl.

>no good skiing manga

Kyokou suiri is airing this season.

No Game No Life features chess, though it’s only used in one arc.

Japanese woodblock printmaking.
Fund it, David. I need my ukiyo-e anime NOW.

Maths and the beauty of abstraction. A sort of 3gatsu vibe

i know, zoomers don't

>Candidates tournament but Caruana, Ding, MVL, Nakamura, and So are all lolis.
Sign me the fuck up.

Impossible, you can't make intense scenes involving a Chess match.

cute girls doing cute engineering

Are you sure?
Been done with shogi.

You ever watch Saki?

Fuck yes, the perfect anime.

Isn't as popular as Go in Japan.

Fuck off and take your buzzwords with you.

I want an anime like Samurai Champloo, but focused exclusively on Edo-Jidai infrastructure. You can add whatever silly story you want to justify it, but I want a long, plodding adventure story that constantly has its focus on transportation, trade of resources, and maintenance throughout the whole of Japan. Extreme brownie points if you point out differences between states and how particular lords would handle things differently, such as military arrangements and religious observation

>Still no anime about a tabletop wargame that isn't Shogi/Chess

What the fuck

Attached: file.png (500x231, 169.05K)

i wish that someday somebody make at least a decent tcg anime, not like yugioh who just rely on luck to defeat his foes, i really want the main chatacter used efficient strategy, deckbuilding, deck archtype (agroo, midrange, otk, ...) and so on

pd: it would be nice if there is an anime about texas holdem

there's manga about that like the mtg one or wizard's soul

What about chess boxing? That could be really good,
It would essentially be a mix between intense fight scenes and slow calculated chess matches.

Trainspotting,.

Chess is obviously not obscure because everyone knows about it, and more people know about competitive side of chess than you think.

It's actually pretty popular on all those platforms, and on Youtube as well, where it's become more mainstream and spread to a younger audience.

Nononono is skiing but very angst.

Sure, but the depth of the game isn't apparent to most people, especially today.

> crazy battle shounen at the tournament/grandmaster level

That's already been done (Code Geass), though it's not exactly a battle shonen. It's not straight up chess, but references to it and you can see actual games being played out. MC is always theoretically playing chess against his opponents. As far as I know, Lelouch is considered a grandmaster and so is Schneizel.

cute girls coding cute things

>Sure, but the depth of the game isn't apparent to most people, especially today.

Most people I've talked to know how to play chess properly and can name some grandmasters from the top of their head, so they do know of the depth, it just isn't taken as a hobby or played competitively as much because there are much better alternatives, such as other online games or board games.

However, if by most people you mean kids, as opposed to millennials, then I don't know.

A Starcraft esports anime. I can already see the main duo of a hotheaded Terran microfag and the newbie Zerg who has natural talent and learns to macro their way to victory. Then there will be the annoying coach who is only shown doing really stupid Protoss cheeses or being a training dummy until things GET SERIOUS.

it kinda sounds like you aren't actually into the chess scene at all and just have a weird chip on your shoulder against young people

But replace all the Scottish heroin addicts with lolis.

You okay zoom zoom?

I swear an anime just did this within the last year or two. Maybe it was a side character doing it professionally or something

There are plenty of Mahjong anime, but why there is no Poker anime?

Read 81Diver.

yes user, lelouch is so grandmaster-level that he uses an ilegal move to attack his foe.

the truth is, chess in codegeass doesnt use any real chess strategy (fork, double atttack, x-ray attack, ...) it just magically teleporting the pieces throught the board and !!!!BOOM!!!!! a checkmate out of nowhere. its just a tool used by the anime studio to show how "smart" is the main chatacter.

im thinkg the same, there are a lot of material to make a good poker anime, unfortunate the few gambling anine doesnt focus on poker as the main theme for the show.

Most of the stuff listed in this thread probably exist as manga.

never seen a texas holdem manga/anine

Why would you think there'd ever be a poker anime? Poker is not a big deal over there. It'd be like wondering why there isn't any American made Cricket movie.

Melee

>RPG Maker
>Every episode is a completely different story
>The stock "Actors" play new roles, except one as a running gag.
>It's basically Ixion Saga DT but with less continuity.

I'd like an anime based around all the different fields of chemistry

Dr Stone is probably the closest you're gonna get

- a cute high school playing warhammer 40k for first time
-Can only purchase Sisters of Battle aka Adepta Soritas Army box set.
-Enter Warhammer 40k championship, playing Adepta Soritas faction
-Keep winning the games, triggering many pay-to-win 40k players
-Upgrading her army bit by bit from immolators, exorcist and adding heroes like St Celestine, St Katherine.
-Won the championship
-Triggering Gameworkshop, 40k world abolished by Coronavirus Chaos section.
-Age of 40 Sigma begins

I'm not sure I want an anime about my hobbies because it might suck. I would love an anime about IDPA girls, but if it's anything like Rifle is Beautiful, I would prefer if they didn't. I suppose girls driving cars could be nice, but it would just feel like discount Initial D.

What I think could work is an anime about some people who work at a toy store like a build a bear, and the whole thing is just them making a bunch of little girls and boys happy. Bonus points if at least one likes to sew and makes her own stuffies.

Ideaman-ing.
they dream about stuff but never execute, last episode everyone are depressed in shit tier jobs in their 40s.

Marine biology.

Because poker is boring ass shit compared to mahjong.

I want a variety show about a highschool girls' club about trying out different hobbies.
Spend a couple episodes getting relatively in depth about some neat traditional craft or sport, each girl eventually finding the one thing she likes the most and wants to stick with. Pottery, Archery, etc.
Eventually everyone but the main girl has found their "thing," they still keep up with club activities but are focused more on their new hobbies and main girl is feeling left out, she has enjoyed all the things she's tried but nothing has been her "thing" yet.
End of the anime she realizes that what she enjoyed most was helping all her friends find their things, and becomes a counsellor/official club department head whatever to help the next generations as well.

I actually like this premise a lot.

When Schneisel (White King) confronts (Black King) in episode 19. Lelouch decides to hide behind Kallen (black peon), just like in the illegal chess move scene.

The move itself is retarded, but the symbolism or foreshadowing is still there.
