Hey guys, I've recently watched the Berserk 97 anime and seen almost the entirety of the Golden Age movies. I'm not really interested in reading the manga at the moment but I really did like the story/characters and atmosphere of the series and I'm just wondering is the Berserk 2016/2017 adaption is worth watching just for a continuation of the series. I know that it's universally hated and I've seen a good chunk of the terrible/goofy CGI and poor animation but, is it worth watching for a continuation of the story or did they botch that too? I guess I'm most interested in knowing if there's much filler in the 2016/2017 adaptation, I've seen my share of QUALITY and can cope with it, just want to know if the story is mostly untarnished

I was being 100% sincere, I watched the Golden Age movies / 97 anime on and off for the past few months. I recently got a relative (that won't read manga/will barely watch anime) into the series and they're liking it but they're only around half way through. I don't know anything or any spoilers past the Golden Age arc and I'd like to watch the continuation of the series with my relative when they're finished with 97 just so we can experience it together. I typically read manga after I've watched a series if I really liked it so I'll most likely check out the manga for the Golden Age arc in the near future while waiting for my cousin to finish the 97 anime. What about my post seems baity? I've know about Berserk for decades and seen a lot of the artwork / knew who a lot of the characters were just from hanging around on Yas Forums the past 15 years, just never got around to getting into Berserk until a few months ago when they marathoned the 3 Golden Age arc movies on a TV channel I watch

Every adaptation since the 97 anime has been mediocre at best.
The 97 anime had several large flaws that would bite it in the ass had it continued.
Just read the manga. You can get these nice omnis now.

I will read the manga eventually, I've seen lots of Miura's artwork over the years and it's great. I just want to hold off and wait for my cousin to finish the 97 anime before continuing further with the series so we can watch the 2017 adaptation together. I'm really just wondering if it's THAT bad, or if it at least gets the story mostly right

Not really. But the 97 anime didn't get it completely right either. If you just need to watch something animated above all, there are better series for that than Berserk adaptations. Othewise I'd listen to that other user and just get straight to the manga. It's great.

Nope. There's a whole bunch of stuff cut out of the 2016/17 adaptation. Hell, the entire Lost Children arc was cut. Really, read the manga.

Damn, I thought "surely it cant be that bad" but I just watched the first 10 minutes of the 2016 series and the way it's presented is just complete ass...It does have some really nice artwork and neat animation techniques but it just feels way way off in tone even compared to the original anime...I thought it would be more in line with the 3 Golden Age movies but it's just not there...I think I'll try the 3 episode rule on it and see if I can get used to it but just immediately the whole thing feels like you'd never want to watch it more than once whereas the 97anime/3 movies have some rewatchability

Just curious though, how many chapters is the series up until the end of the eclipse and how many chapters of Berserk are there currently? I'm just wondering exactly how far I am into the series as a whole
