Unironically now that the dust has settled, do we all agree that the Chimera Ant Arc is the worst one in the show?
Yorknew is probably the best, with Hunter Exam and Greed Island being pretty close seconds, and Zoldyck Family slightly edging out over (((ants))). Boring overstretched plot, OP characters inserted just so the main characters can grow stronger, no explanation whatsoever except muh evolution. Muh animals can feel. The An*toids should've gotten exterminated in 5 episodes by a few guns instead of this bullshit. Shame that an anime that could've been regarded a masterpiece had such a weak arc.

The thing that most struck me most about this masterpiece is how the entire Chimera Ant arc felt like one long work of literature, like a 19th century baroque novel or a Shakespearean tragedy. It's rife with symbolism, irony, themes, and felt appropriately mature and tonally rich. Some of the passages spoken by the narrator were so beautiful and memorable (e.g. the humans in the sky line), and the narration served to create the feeling that I was reading some intricate tapestry of prose. I loved how tragic and anticlimactic the death of Meruem was, because it was richly meaningful in tandem with the themes presented by the arc; and it's because of this that I speak of him in the same way I do as Macbeth, or Oedipus, or John Milton's Lucifer. Some scenes, like the match-cut of the boots stomping on the insects between the Rose bomb used on human cities spoke to me on a visceral level, just as Classic Lit does.

>which scan is that?
It's Viz. HxH is one of the few series they include swearing for because it's published under their "Advanced Shounen" imprint, which is intended for older audiences.
I've seen this thread before.

The development and depth the Chimera Ant arc gives to all the characters involved, especially Gon, Killua, Meruem and Komugi, is simply unparalleled by anything in Yorkshin. It's way more grand story-wise and thematically. The way it explored the complex relationship and dynamics between Gon-Killua, Meruem-Komugi, Meruem and his royal guards and such were better than Yorkshin. Of course, the Ryodan had an amazing dynamic and Kurapika-Senritsu's relationship was great, but the relationships explored in the Ant arc have more complexity and depth. The Ant arc was much more creative than any arc before it as well.
>best arc of the series but it couldnt be replicated
>it's bad and everything else is a masterpiece
It is kino
Based Hunterchad.
And although the chimera Ant arc has some undoubtedly iconic moments, it remains one of the most boring chapters in the manga. it's something that has always struck me.
I always thought it was too long and with a lot of unnecessary parts .
Is this pasta?
Togashi destroys linear storytelling by not telling a story
>boobs.
remind me. this thing is a male or female?
corpse
nice one, but before that?
Female
How is he not telling a story when he is literally telling a story?
Well said. The storming of the palace onward is capital-A ART. There’s a feeling that resonates deeply with me - that the series’ main focus is to render humanity and nothing more or less. The way all the extremes of human nature are displayed in the Chimera Ant arc feels like reading a sort of contemporary Odyssey. It is epic in the original sense of the word -- something majestic that shines light on the nature of living.
alive
Its a drone.
Fucking BASED. Hunterchads quote Melville, Spielhagen and Milton meanwhile most of Yas Forums can't formulate a single dissertation. And then some retards think they can come at us... so pitiful bros.
CA is the peak of character study in manga. The entire arc is based on characters who were just born and struggle to understand the deeper meaning of why they exist and what their role is in the colony, resulting in some of the greatest character developement sequences in the medium for not only Meruem but Youpi, Pouf, Pitou, the lesser ants like Welfin, Ikalgo, Brovoda, Meleoron, Colt, etc. The monster and human reversal of Gon and Meruem was mindblowing.
Based.
11th Prince Fugetsu will win the succession contest.
Holy based
Thought it was rather pretentious and long winded with bullshit like trying to discuss the value of life while having guys put more people at risk multiple times for petty shit like pride or muh warrior code, or selfish revenge. Maybe it would have worked better in print but as an anime I found it annoying and long winded
its pretty ambiguous
there is plenty of evidence and clues on both sides
holy fucking shit I'm a hunterchad and even I am baffled by the fact that there have been like three different HxH posts just today I mean damn I know the hiatus is bad but holy shit keep it in your pants
Leftover Kachoufags can drink to that.
Yas Forums loves hxh because it's kino, nothing more, nothing less, while others move to irrelevancy in just the span of a week until the next chapter comes out, hxh is always there at the top of the catalogue without doing anything.
I know it's kino but shut the fuck up already
No I don't think we will.
Beautifully put.

This. It also has possibly the most profound conclusion that I've seen from any piece of media.
>"Now, let us drink.
>Let us drink.
>Drink to the human race.
>In every age, there will be good humans and bad humans.
>Human life is too long to devote to reproduction, yet too short to devote to learning, in the helix of time.
>Perhaps that is why humans succumb to desire and seek release.
>Despite the fact that life is complete with the sun, the land, and poetry."
i got bored with the long fight scenes with that Morel guy. But the climax was the best shit
man Togashi really can't draw for shit
based hunterchads did it again
Really? I love how Togashi experiments with art style and composition in Chimera Ant arc. It's avant-garde kino. For example pic related, he does away with the unspoken rule of only using a G Nib to ink, and has taken out a brush. The result is this; a beautifully unconventional page that conveys the emotion better than a traditionally drawn page.

Agreed. CA pages are oozing so much soul and life, it's breathtaking to read. I also love how he combines standard pencil linework and fuses them with ink, and sometimes he even draws the aura surrounding a character with said inking method or even speech bubbles for maximum impact like in pic related
Any gonchads here?
If any arc in HxH is your favorite besides CA then you enjoy HxH for the wrong reasons and you most likely enjoy shounen like MHA, One Piece, KnY, etc. which renders your opinion worthless.
The only people who can legitimately critique HxH and CA are seinenfags, but more specifically Berserk and LoGH fans. But the moment one of them likes a shounen more than HxH you can toss their opinion in the garbage.

ENTER CHADREN.
Grow up
How the CA arc really ended, everything since has been a dying Gon's delusion as his brain shuts down.
Based shitrenshitter spic making an ass of himself
but who gives a fuck about that except retarded normalfags. if one chapter blows your mind because it's amazing and then the next one is boring exposition or has boring characters which act as setup for some more amazing moments down the road then how can you say it's worse than a manga which has consistently good chapters but never amounts to more? i don't give a FUCK about something that's merely good (mind you hxh ruined shounen for me so i don't think any other shounen is good). give me the inconsistent series that will blow my mind rather than the same old boring trash shounen bullshit.
Soul.
It felt like a different series when the ants showed up.
>Axe Samurai 8, I'm coming bac.
Based. It's time.
This is probably bait but hunterxhunter does not approach LOGH in anyway and only an idiot would pick hunterxhunter for stuff like character writing and deep themes over other shows. As a shonen one piece is superior.
The CA arc not only approaches LoGH but easily surpasses it.
And yea I can agree that One Piece excels in being a shounen if shounen is characterized as boring and on the nose and vapid as fuck and not worth reading whatsoever.
B to the A to the S to the E to the D

Hunter x Hunter will come back on May 26
One piece shits on hunter x hunter in every aspect, enjoy your long monologues of possible actions every once a year hiatusfag
But does it have SOUL?
Plenty of soul, Oda just doesn’t get as experimental with paneling and art styles like he used to because he has to cram minute details so his story doesn’t take 1000 more chapters. Togashi is probably superior in overall aesthetic paneling tho
Any more art analysis? I love reading this shit
>thinking one piece is more on the nose than hunterxhunter
One piece manages to be just as deep as hunterxhunter(not very deep) without any of the pretentious garbage and walls of text. And no the CA arc does not even come close to LOGH. Chimera ant arc has all the depth and subtlety of marineford but with everything being spoonfed to you through narration.
Samurai 8, Kimetsu no Yaiba and TPN are about to end
you know what that means?
Cheadle Hill
>Yorknew
Dropped the series when I heard this name.
Togashi can write a more enthralling story with only his left hand, broken back and Naoko on his lap than Oda and his army of assistants could ever hope for. And we don't get chapters once a year, we are happy to get it every 2 years.
Yeah I am starting to believe you hunterfags were just trolling all along.
