Leans towards George Lucas. His ideas for the series weren’t half bad, but he needed a better editor to keep him on track. The start of the series was far too slow, with sometimes redundant infodumps. Compounded by art from the illustrator that was far too messy and in dire need of shading. That killed all momentum for the series.

Holy shit I got totally blindsided. I mean the writing was clearly on the wall with how rushed the previous few chapters were but I still thought it had another volume left to go. Well damn. I guess some people are going to be insufferably smug (including me) for the next month. I'm glad I don't have to hear "wait till the anime" or "it happened with KnY, it'll happen with S8" ad nauseam.

Still I suppose I'll miss S8, it's been the most fun axebait series to criticize but I suppose all bad things must end.

Naruto was 100% a fluke. Part 1 was basically written by his editor, then there was a noticeable drop in quality with shippuden, but it was already popular.

Marketing in general propped the series up for failure. The pre-released artworks had shown crippled Hachi and people started making headcanon assumptions about how the mc would be Batman and how would rise and overcomes enemies despite his disabilities. When that body got ditched in chapter 1, you already had the first little online poop parade with people clamoring about what they didn't get. Had they just drawn Hachi as he would have been later on, since that would be his default anyway, then the whole cripple thing would have been recognized as what it actually was, flavored backstory. Same for the dried squid cover blurb that was like blood in the water to shitposters. Should have never made it onto the cover.

Artists and writers have autism which makes them good at their craft. However they are also prone to having stupid ideas and you need someone normal(like an editor) to reel them back in reality and stop them from making stupid shit.

It would have been funnier if someone actually liked it on Yas Forums. Literally the only people defending this are twitter kishidrones.

Naruto went on for 700 chapters because it's not guaranteed that a popular mangaka making another series will also be a hit. Same thing with bleach and OP.

In naruto, summoning scroll required chakra and its can only seal jutsu not use it
While in boruto you can just spam it like a fucking yugioh battle

worst case scenario, he has to go back to working on boruto stuff and he'd be set for life. and yes, i think the boruto manga is doing fine enough without him, but imagine if he was there too to at least draw the fucking thing. he could make it go weekly and then because the anime is only just now finally fucking starting the story, we probably wouldn't have to worry about filler for a very long time.

I'd say it'd be the George Lucas scenario. I've properly read through the entirety of S8 and there are definitely some good ideas and moments amongst the bad and mediocrity. Kishi really needs an editor to guide his thoughts and reel him in.
