Hassad took out two other bodyguards as well. If I had to guess, his fighting style heavily depends on not receiving a hit, or else his power will be severely lessened. One could also make the argument that Hassad wasn't using his full strength when he fought Yodoe, but we know too little to discern him properly.

This could be worded more properly, but Nogi could have hired him after he was rescued by Kaburagi and ordered both of them to pretend to be on Hayami's side. Hassad's defeat at the hands of a bodyguard might have made him appear trustworthy to Hayami in terms of loyalty, albeit loyalty caused by a desire to avenge his humiliation. My thoughts, at least.
