Naofumi disappointed me when he started palling around with the slave owner who keeps people caged to be raped or tortured.
Because the whole point of him was that he acts like he's a cynical asshole when in reality he cares about protecting the weak.
And then I realized that the author was more into the whole slave/master fetish than about making a compelling character or story, and it kinda soured me on this.
So I'm going with Cautious Hero for unconventional isekai lead, frankly.

I don’t think Naofumi knew the extent of what the slave master was doing. Plus, it’s not like he had a choice; he needed to buy a slave to join his party because he was mostly a defensive hero.

You should’ve seem the overwhelming praise that episode one of Interspecies Reviewers got here. It had nearly 800 posts before being archived, and now you can’t enter a thread without shitposters bashing it.

It had an interesting premise, and started our decently well at first, but became really generic and boring at a certain point.
There were so many better directions that they could have gone with the story, but we end up with the something that stopped feeling unique.
Also they've basically already used up the most interesting plotpoint of the Shield hero getting his revenge on the royalty in the first season, so now I have no real reason to watch after that.
There just hasn't been enough done with the world to keep me interested in it for the worldbuilding, so now I've just lost my interest in it.
The show was at its peak when it was just Naofumi traveling around as a merchant using his shield in creative ways to get by.
Now its just use big powerful curse shield to beat big powerful bad guys.
