Hinamatsuri

Is the author injecting a bunch of filler to avoid moving the main story forward? For a few chapters, it felt like things were ending but now I'm not so sure any more.

what main story? the entirety of this manga is just character hijinx with the whole "future is bad" shit as an excuse for being able to insert weird shit like espers into it

>what main story?
It's not always moved at any significant pace, but it's always been present in the background. The origins of the espers, the importance of Rocksion and the fate of the future. The author focused on it quite a bit recently and at least to me, it felt like the author was raising the stakes and working towards some kind of climax.

>injecting a bunch of filler
Dunno. Hinamatsuri was always like that. Plus every manga should have chapters like this once in a while
It would've been funnier a bit if you knew at least who Hitomi is but yeah, this chapter was rather self-contained

The concert is clearly our endgame at this moment, and MAYBE the endgame for the series (or we get another timeskip, who knows). Its all kinda building towards that. I would say this chapter was filler, but its okay to breathe. I was wondering what was up with Utako.

It wasn't really a complaint (I should probably have worded it differently) as I enjoyed it quite a bit, I was just surprised. An Utako chapter was the last thing I was expecting.

It's really easy to imagine a scenario where, even if we get some kinda climax, it will just continue being the same stuff past the end with more Hina/Anzu/best girl hijinx with the main trio. Maybe the author will make the bad future come to pass to shake things up like they did with the time-skip, but it will still remain as a comedy thing.

>its okay to breathe
Yeah, it is especially important during the time of coronavirus outbreak

Well, the series needs a finale though. At the same time it would be really exciting to see an adult Hina, or Mao popping 34 rocksion babies.

I think it'd have to change somehow, like what was done with the time-skip. Sure, the current format is funny, but it will get stale after a while. For example, I love Hitomi as much as the next guy, but the whole "Hitomi is the greatest at everything she does" shtick is starting to get a bit old.
