Great show until episode 16. Then it was just dumb. There were some good moments like seeing Gurren Lagann get bigger and bigger till they were throwing galaxies at each other but the story was over at 16

relating back to The story starts of with Simon and Kamina being in an underground city, surround by the earth, "enduldged in materialism". As such they were trapped into this underground state by their fear and desire to survive . They then break out of this system, onto the surface and find the many stars where their adventure will lead them to (ascencion) and throughout the story most of the "evil" guys are people that believe Humans are incapable of accomplishing anything great. As such the overseer in the village of Simon and Kamina was the evil guy for trapping them underground and destroying any believe in the surface. The Anti Spirals are beings thinking we cant control the energy with modesty and would destroy everything.
A prevailant theme is also the believe/faith resulting in positive results, and the believe itself (in a better world) being what kicks off the story in the first place, and the lack of believe being the source of evil essentially.

There is also the theme of the Mechas coming down from the sky, and with the talk of the clockwork gnomes during DMT trips spiritual bodies (in example of [fallen] angels) may appear to be metallic

It sucks they keep trying to make the next Gurren Lagann multiple times, and those end up being mediocre at best.

Will never forgive them for giving Nia space-aids out of nowhere and having her die, kickstarting a bunch of hack copycats like Samurai Jack to do the same thing. Xenoblade 1 and 2 both looked like they would follow a similar path, but walked the path of kino instead.

I don't even see what in this show would trick people into thinking it's a masterpiece. At least Steins;Gate is about time travel so I can see why normalfags would call it super smart etc, but for TTGL I have no idea. Is it literally just because the final battle is badass? I can understand people who actually claims this to be a masterpiece. No other piece of media has ever come close to make me feel empathy for the characters. They feel so genuine, even been cartoonish and all.

Watch Haruhi. It develops the characters through empathy the hard way. Don't say I didn't warn you.

It's great in the way that something like Jurassic Park is great. A simple action/adventure story with a strong central character arc and pervading, cohesive themes that resonate through consistent imagery and story beats, and a propulsive, constantly moving story with tangible cause-and-effect motivating every forward movement. Not everything is trying to be super deep.

I haven't seen Gridman but I consider KLK and DITF to be just as good as TTGL. They're all 7/10 to 8/10 as far as I'm concerned.
