This thread made me rewatch the first EP of the new version. I'd forgotten how funny it is and might need to watch the whole thing again.

When the new version was airing I tried to track down the original anime. All my regular anime procuring sources didn't carry it back then, but it might be time to have another look since I've seen quite a few anons claim it's good or even better.

It looks like a kids show, so I never ended up checking it out. Any interest I got from it was listening to Kohara Konomi's radio show.

I was glad when he disappeared for a while as the joke was very repetitive but then he came back with that and it was great.

It looks and sometimes even feels like a kids show, but it has a real dirty mind so it at the very least is well aware of the fact it has an adult audience. Specially given that many of the classic RPG tropes it makes fun of probably aren't even that familiar to kids these days.

I used to have that kind of attitude and I regret it. You miss out on good stuff like that.

I can't believe to this day how they managed the pacing so well despite the huge original material to adapt from.

Some parts felt pretty rushed, especially towards the end.

Most of the rush just helped the comedy side stay strong.

Yes, but that was bound to happen anyways given that they managed to effectively adapt the whole thing. Also rushing towards the end makes it way less noticeable because towards the end you expect the story to pick up pace which lets me to believe they knew they wouldn't be able to fit the whole story in 24 eps but tried their damndest anyway.

After seeing what happens to popular media on Yas Forums, do you really want it to be correctly rated?

Sword of Wind was rushed in the manga as well anyway, they reach the village, go to a cave where Nike dodges a few arrows and he's given the sword. It would've taken a few minutes in the anime.

It still feels like any serious story didn't need much time so any rush of the plot didn't matter. I recall it still managed a few serious moments alright while flying through it.

That's a good question, that webm was all over the fucking place at the time. Hell, it's how a big chunk of Yas Forums found out about the show at all.

I think that was the webm that sold the series to quite a few people.

It made Kukuri more attractive than she would be otherwise so it's fine by me.
