Actually university is basically the last chance of freedom to the Japanese before workforce. In Japanese universities, there's surprisingly little studying, just spend most of the time slacking off and boozing. Grand Blue is accurate in that regard.

Well, as someone who is currently in college, I miss high school a lot. I talked with my seatmate all day, the girls were young and cute, I didn't need to worry about my future, I didn't need to worry about my clothes because I just wore a uniform every day, there wasn't any bullying unlike elementary school, etc. Now I just go to class and then back home. It sucks. I want to go back. It's no mystery why japs like high school so much. It's probably the last time you feel like you belong somewhere

I don't know. It seems to me as if western series, movies, books and so on don't include a high school setting as often as animu and mango do. But I might be wrong, I don't watch stuff from the west as much as I watch nippon animation

I really don't get it either. School fucking sucks, If I were to ever go back to school It would just be an experiment to see how much shit I could get away with. At least now my work actually finishes at 16:00pm and I can pack up and spend the rest of my day as I want instead of doing essays and equations all evening.

I hate it because I used to be the top grade in all classes I attended to. Then I learned that being academically gifted is actually an attractive feature in Japan instead of a social stigma (i.e. lol nerd).
