What are your favorite "weird" Ranma 1/2 ships? I've recently developed a taste for Azusa/Ryoga, and the idea of Tsubasa and Konatsu falling for each other because they mistake each other for real girls, finding out, Nyanniichuan cursing themselves in a "gift of the magi" plot, and then going "fuck it" and becoming alternating boyfriends/girlfriends just feels hilarious and yet true to the series.

Random thought; if Ranma 1/2 had been about Ranma staying in China as Shampoo's new fiance, but had kept the love dodecahedron angle, what kind of girls could Ranma have wound up trying to seduce him away from Shampoo?

For example, I could see Pink & Link trying to steal him from Shampoo as part of their feud, or Ling-ling and Lung-lung crushing on him... perhaps one or more Musk folk women... maybe even Kiima? Or Rouge?

Honestly? Ranma is a real pushover when it comes to girls. Considering that they are all amazon, the series would have ended early with Ranma being jailed and squeeze for breeding and his Dad killed, if he didn't manage to fucking run away again.

It really just got annoying in the long run. They should have kept his character as the lost nomad and rival of Ranma.
I was expecting some fun development on that despair attack too but it fell flat, probably because it'd have been too serious for the show.

In my experience? It's mostly the hypocrisy, either from blaming Ranma for his curse which A: he ultimately could have avoided if he hadn't been such a bad sport, and B: he literally GOT LUCKY in blaming the person actually responsible, or for claiming that he's an honorable man who "truly" loves Akane when in fact he's taking advantage of her naivety to sleep in her bed in disguise, something that he KNOWS is wrong and that she'd freak out over because otherwise he wouldn't go to such lengths to hide it from her.
