As another user said, if this is how he looks to elves than no shit they all are gaga over him. Actually the changelings have been such a fucking awesome mechanic for this story, showing an idea of how typical fantasy races you always see the same way translate into other species has been a real eye opener. Like, all these years I've always looked at elves or dwarves or halflings or whatever and I've never really thought about how they are considered by each other, but of course naturally an entirely different race growing up with each other wouldn't necessarily judge things by human standards.

Nah, no signs that it's somehow impossible for there to be an actual fat elf. It's just the ones we see are all naturally athletic (even mages in this series who adventure/fight still have to be able to move around a lot for long periods on foot). Marcille isn't remotely chubby, just homely, softer. She probably looks more like a nice village girl or something, rather then the sharp refined aristocratic look. "Pretty", but not "beautiful" in a model way.

She's a bit prettier than that. Unlike most series Kui actually puts effort into varying characters, even one-off side ones, not everyone is generically good looking. Looking at what we saw in bars on the surface or the packed first level or even the golden land, there are plenty of more real world average women shown. But yeah she's not stunning, just nice.

But Laius's Lion is purposefully showing him that there isn't really a perfect world and that he can't grant Laius everything.
