I think it's sooner than we think. It's clear looking at the last ~50 chapters Hori has absolutely no clue what he's even doing anymore. There is no direction, no goal, no grand design. We'll get a hiatus announcement soon-ish and then Hori will go the way of Togashi and just never finish his work. Provided he doesn't die of Coronavirus first.

it doesn't even consistently rank in the top 10 best sellers anymore and sales have been declining for a while now. Even HxH, which has been on hiatus for more than a year now still sells more volumes than MHA. It might not get axed today or tomorrow, but if it keeps going like this it really isn't very far off.

It's not getting axed, at least not at the moment. Surely Demon Slayer and others series sell better, but as long as MHA keeps selling decently it won't get cancelled. Despite everything the series is getting more season and even movies, they want to milk everything out of it.

The series peaked to its highest right here and has been going downhill fast since. You literally cannot top his reveal, he should of never of been removed as the main villain. Even though I don't like the idea, he should of beaten All Might and vanished back into the shadows, spreading fear into the characters and the readers. This guy is easily one of the most unique personality wise and best written villains in manga history. Him getting side lined was basically Hori shooting himself in the foot twice. Then a third time for good measure.

The only possible reason I see for not killing him off after the All For One fight was to keep him around for more mentoring duties but so far all he serves for is humoring Bakugo. Deku could've been convening with AM through the Avatar state.
