Why was Franxx so popular...

Why was Franxx so popular? I remember when at least half of the threads on Yas Forums were about franxx and it leaked to every board and social media, to the point that even celebs were talking about it and you couldn't get it out of your feed. Zero Two was even put in porn ads and I never seen something blow up this fast.

Flavor of the week

It was supposed to be a timeline shifting tale of love transcending the social disconnection which threatens our world today. The message had universal appeal, touching the hearts of people all over the globe.

Specifically the flavor is mint
It's good at first but it leaves a bad after-taste.

Anime original story, no elitistfags to ruin everything with VN/manga spoilers
Studio Trigger hype
Intriguing sci-fi dystopia world-building wide open to mass speculation as the story progresses
Character drama and even shipping fights
Releasing mid week episode preview videos, often deceptively edited to build the hype, livewatch threads on the weekend
Beard Man making his actually decent episode analysis videos
Memes, lots of memes
It was a great time and it's sad we haven't had anything quite as good since.

Would have been better had they just done a harem end. Character just settling for their silver medal because they can't be with the person they like always feels shitty. Like you know that they're always going to want to be with their gold medal that got away. It's never going to be a truly happy relationship kinda deal. Also it's a world where sex and marriage are pretty much becoming new concepts. They can pretty much make the rules as they see fit.

But who was spider?

>Kiznaiver with mechas
I actually liked Kiznaiver though, so that was fine.

LAAAAAAAAY YOUUUUUUUUR HAAAAAAAAAAAANDS ON ME

relationships and emotions are painful but also profoundly beautiful, that's the point of the story.

Wasted potential

Because it was a great shitpost of an anime, similar to how Vulvrave and Kirakira and Cross Angry and Guilty Cuck spread to a bunch of other boards

>remembering how utterly fucking shit Guilty Crown was

To some degree I'm still mad and it's been more than 8 years.

RIP in peace

/thread

Mint is good all the way through.

The main character literally died, blue hair couldn't be with anyone and slut liked asshole more than fatty and fatty found a fatty to take his fatty anyway. Nerd was left over so he got strawberry.

I liked the first couple episodes where all of the dialogue from the mecha scenes could have been ripped from a porno. It was goofy and fun because of the male/female teams and the orientation of the cockpit. They should have kept doing that and just made it a sexy comedy mecha action.

Will BNA make the hype rise again? Or will it be another average series like Gridman? Or will furfaggotry doom it?

too soon...

Im more concerned about Netflix fags

Trigger

Hey now, pound for pound Gridman was way more hype than Franxx

The novelty of a slutty, damaged heroine of questionable trustworthiness.

I suppose we have had too many purity fags

God.
The Gainax/Trigger fanbase is so disgusting.

nothing has blown up like this "flavor of the week" since then retard. At what point is it no longer a flavor of the week?

Trigger that it's. I never get how this one studio makes people lose their minds.

Pretty much this, franxx and its fans are shit.

That's because everything is a goddamn general thread now.

He's Colonel Redips come back from the dead. Somehow. We don't talk about it, just like we don't talk about it with Sigma.
Spider spelled backwards is Redips.

Nobody played that game

If they dump all the episodes at once guaranteed it won't go anywhere.

>trigger was trusted for its pedigree and delivering with kill la kill
>/m/ desperately wants something good to watch

It was a big disappointment though as an /m/ fag.

triggerfags are mentally ill, that's why
darling in the franxx also had alot of reddit/discord trannies in the threads

/m/ hates Franxx probably more then any other show ever made, and feel much the same towards any new original mecha. Just give them their Zaku vs Gundam rehash for the hundredth and they're happy.

The faces took a while to get used to but I didn't have much of a problem with the /m/ otherwise

But Trigger delivered what they always deliver IT WUZ ALIENS

>beard-man
>He loved the controversial episodes 14, and also the 16-18 post battle arc, didn't even mind the 19 hakase infodump
>20 broke his heart

1-15 was genuinely building up to something fantastic.

Even as things fell apart in part 2 there were still some great moments all the way to the end that made me feel like even if they botched a lot of the story they could stick the landing. Unfortunately the last episode is the worst episode of the series ten-fold and pretty much guaranteed it to be a time flop instead of a cult classic.

Attached: 1530378717305.jpg (1366x768, 125.1K)

Because people still glorify trigger even though they have only 1 (one) real, major accomplishment to their name and a whole slew of disappointments and botched works. Franxx simply being the latest among the latter.

When something as good as it was airs.

For the same reason why it's now hated: Bandwagonning.

Holy shit it's real yuki.la/a/168921984#p168923224

Then against that was after the beach episode which foreshadowed the whole going to space thing (btw why didn't Hiro and Ichigo reference the ichigo star in the last few episodes when they went to space? That was like THE obvious thing to do, seriously why did they try to fit so much into a few episodes at the end like that, it's pretty obvious they had to cut stuff)

>holy shit it's aliens
>...for the 5th time

Hiro forgot about it because he didn't really care that much about it.

That coobie thread at the end gets me every time

Seriously. She didn't deserve any of that.

It's such a fucking shame. It could have been a masterpiece but they just had to bomb the ending by killing the MCs.

Attached: 1461041192312.png (500x477, 135.58K)

>they just had to bomb the ending by killing the MCs.
THAT is your problem with it?

They bombed the entire last third. Nothing that made the show work was present past 15.

Because it was a mecha show AND a trigger one at that

I mean, for a show that revolves around it's two main characters so much and their relationship, ending the series by making them explode in the last 5 minutes is a pretty colossal problem.

Attached: 1530401839167.gif (600x338, 846.27K)

When are we going to get another anime original like DiTF? God I miss the shitposting.

Japanese have a boner for suffering, happy endings for MC couple in this kind of a show is the rare exception rather then the rule.

The smartest thing to do is focus on the secondary couples, at least some of them might make it. The MitsuKokoro and IchiGorofags did alright.

And then they were immediately reincarnated so it's not even that big'a deal.

It was a Manic Pixie Dream Girl romance drama with the same main girl archetypes that made Rumiko Takahashi a lot of money with Urusei Yatsura. There was no nuance to any of the symbolism, which means even idiots could recognize it and feel smart for having done so. The mecha designs were unique for anyone who hadn't seen Diebuster before, and entry level /m/fags could clap at the little tips of the hat to things like Diebuster and Eva.

The first 15 episodes were basically a YA novel, which made it incredibly accessible to normies. If you told an AI to design a pure Class Rep girl and a "safe" Bad Girl, it would pump out Strawberry and Eo To. It felt like 85% of Yas Forums simped one or both those girls during the first cour. If they didn't, you had one of the other guys or girls.

It was dumbed down evangelion. Also the resolving that he and the girl knew each other and loved each other was really good. Except for that she knew it since who knows when and still tries to kill him. But the „you are the girl from back then“ moment was kino

Because it was pretty good and amusing to watch.

What a fucking cock up this was.

>Show about MC's rewriting the tragedy of their story book
>Nah let's make the final episode about all these irrelevant side characters being happy and relegate the MCs dying horribly to an afterthought epilogue

And of course, the last episode had the most rock bottom ratings of the entire series, even more so than the intentionally tumultuous episode 14.

fpbp

it did drama with that was closer to some peoples lives but had satisfactory results only to fuck it up. a romance that wasnt a harem but with action and good character interaction you dont see in most anime.
However it shits the bed in story.
