Serious question. Why do people hate on Sayaka so much? Barring the main pair of Homura and Madoka, Sayaka is easily the most developed of the cast in terms of characterization and relevance to the story. Her character arc made up pretty much the entire middle portion of the show and was integral in showing the viewer the details of the magical girl system. It was through her that we got to see an example of the typical life cycle most magical girls go through as they form contracts and eventually fall into despair. Sure, she's self-righteous and makes poor choices, but so does pretty much every other girl throughout the series. Meanwhile the self-righteousness is as much a part of her character arc as Kyouko's selfish attitude is to hers. She has to be that way in order to give her story meaning as she's faced with her own hypocrisy and powerlessness.
