The average Japanese anime/manga fan is honestly as pleb as your the average foreign anime/manga fan. Then you have same the Kyoanus-tier pretentious otaku both in Japan and else. Then there's the rare 1% of anime/manga fan with actual good taste, again both in and out of Japan. The big difference is that the 1% of good taste otaku in Japan have access to a much, much larger catalog of anime/manga to enjoy than foreign 1% otaku. I know, because I am the 1%.

Nip polls tend be be marginally better than any western polls I've seen. Which isn't saying much.

I read the pirated version, the official version and I buy. I doubt I am the only one here that does this. If anything, the nips need to step up their game instead of just whining about piracy, which has been proven again and again to work more in the benefit of the creator than against it.
