Touma Kamijou from A Certain Magical Index

Okay. So name one thing that you dislike about him, without saying "He's a beta MC who can't win fights without getting severely injured.".

His stupid hair. I liked the original novel design where it was slightly spiky and unkempt, but otherwise not too outlandish. Thanks to the anime, however, it looks like a pitch-black sea urchin latched onto his head, sucked the nutrients from what's left of his brain, and never let go.

Just *one* thing:

The "ultimate nullifier" power is completely played out and a crutch for crappy writers who want to make a character super powerful but still able to be threatened by mooks.

Toaru wouldn't be this popular if railgun didn't exist; yes that much of a secondary he is

I dislike his shitty shirt choices.

The fact that he didn't take advantage of lessar.

He's a boring self insert.

Hopefully if they get to NT they go full fluff, but they haven't exactly given reason to be hopeful.

Guy is a goddamn hypocrite.

He ruins Misaka's personality when he's onscreen.

He's a man.

What exactly is there to ruin? Her initial personality is from Index, and she was a delinquent from a high-class school who seeks trouble where she was willing to use her lethal powers on normal thugs and Touma before she even knew about his power. Her major arc debut is just being a side character.

That title was taken by Deku

>Lethal powers
Mikoto herself says she uses lightning spears because they are non-lethal.

What's there to ruin? She's such a terrible character that she very barely shows up in her own spin-off anymore.

Go read the goddamn manga before shitposting.

She disappeared from her own manga for a literal year. You read it.

He doesn't investigate what's happening to him and up until this point, isn't amassing his allies to stop the stupid wars and subterfuge despite having the tools and connections to do so.

fucking railfags

>normal dude with a nullifier hand
>just the hand
99% of his victories are underserved. If Misaka fought him the way she fought others in her own series he'd be a dead man.

He's a beta MC that can't win fights without punching people. Hell, even his "diplomatic" ones end with him punching them.

>beta MC
>Punches the ever loving shit outta everyone
Nah he's as Chad as they come

The chapter lengths were abysmal, plus the mangaka took many breaks, if the parameters were same as that of the old times I could understand your point.

>99% of his victories are underserved
this there even times where the narration states that it should have been impossible and his durability fluctuates between normal human to extremely superhuman all the time for the sake of plot

That only makes it worse now that the mangaka is too lazy to even draw the story of Mikoto to the point he won't even let her make an appearance despite an entire year. Great way to give people a reason to keep reading.

Toaru Majutsu NO Railgun.

Simp who will save vile whores

His entire personality is whining about the lack of normal life

>He's a beta MC
What

Which Misaka?

Yeah, he's an omega at best

Boy uses his own blood instead of a hairgel for the last 40~volumes, new hairstyle never ever.

>Punches the ever loving shit outta everyone
>Plz be good, I know you did bad things, but you will change
Professional cuck. The only reason someone hasn't went back to doing evil stuff again after getting punched is because the author is too much of a pussy to show the consequences of trusting villains

What's worse, Touma doesn't even make moves on girls that clearly want it. He's very un-based.

He targets disabled people and those with no hand to hand combat experience. If he was up against a bodybuilder or martial arts instructor, expect nothing less than a real reason to scream "Just muh luck!!!11111"given to him. In fact, didn't Tsuchimikado body him in one chapter?

>Story of Mikoto
Mikoto's story gets told through a combination of the LN and the manga. The manga exists to flesh her out more and to reflect or foreshadow what she will do in her future. Much like how Sister's arc and Dream Ranker reflect on her NT10 argument against Touma and also Mikoto's inferiority complex to Touma has already been shown to be forming after OT16 timeline, where she berates herself saying that she's no hero. Mikoto doesn't have to always appear, her conflicts in accordance to the main series have to be reflected and that it has managed so far. Anyway the reason she disappeared for a literal year is because of Fuyukawa's bad pacing.

>Can knock anyone out in one punch

How would both Touma and Kuroko react to this?

Attached: 1583574896405.png (265x414, 147.12K)

>conflicts in accordance to the main series
Let's see how that turned out in NT. First is her conflict with Touma in NT10 which was used for emotional closure for Touma, not her. Nothing was really settled for her there. Then came Kamisato arc, where she grieves for her weakness and finds the AAA. This would have been interesting from how drunk in power she was with it and the narration making it sound ominous about her continued contact with it. Nope, absolutely nothing came from it. She just found a new shiny toy she's mastered in a few volumes with little to no conflict. I'll give you that with the AAA she was of more use to Touma in later parts of NT since that is her main motivation. But otherwise, her development here is slow and abysmal.

>Reacting to attacks faster than human comprehension
>muh precog
>shit immediately flies out the window when fighting a person that actually knows how to fight hand 2 hand

Pretty much this. Also he intentionally leaves gaps in the main series to cover them in the spinoffs.

Reading the novels have told me otherwise.

Exactly what form of closure has Mikoto found in the novels? The AAA plotline was dropped and her relationship with Misaki was shallow now that it has been fixed off-screen at the end of NT22R. Oh look, GT1 too has reset her romance development with Touma, having her question what exactly she feels for him. Didn't she had her answer in OT16? Where was that in GT1?

If I was him I wouldn't be able to smash my harem either with all the missions I have to take and I think beta MCs are almost as bad as yurishit

>She just found a new shiny toy she's mastered in a few volumes with little to no conflict.
What is NT22?
>Nothing really settled there for her
She beat him for the first time, what she has been trying to do since the very start of the series and since OT she has been trying to save him because of her coming to terms with her feelings in OT16 and wanting to pay him back for the sisters arc, which she did by finally saving him from a sticky mind-set in NT10 just as he saved her before. From NT13 onwards the confusion that arose within her is what he had experienced and the reason he had sided with GREMLIN, it was a mere follow-up event after NT10 for her, because she starts out with a fresh new motive after that.

>Not much has come out of the development
False, as there are clear indications of mental drawbacks since the events of NT15.

>What is NT22?
That was literally her AAA getting hijacked by Aleister since he invented the thing, which would be strange if he didn't made a backdoor for him to exploit should it be turned against him. But most of the time, it follows her will and command.
She beat him and felt it was a hollow victory. I'll give you that she has saved him from a sticky situation, but don't deny that in OT16 her feelings that blossomed was love and has been reset since of the latest volume.
>False, as there are clear indications of mental drawbacks since the events of NT15.
Now that's a lie and you know it. They don't get brought up again after Kamisato arc. There's barely any mental drawbacks since they have never caused her to be harmed or be reasonable faults that hinder her. You know, a trait commonly found in Mary Sues. I'm not quick to call her a real Mary Sue, but she has found herself having an element of one.

Literally nothing has been dropped. Since this is a book meant to bring in new readers Kamachi was re-establishing the equations the characters have with each other. Misaki easily hugged Mikoto and she didn't complain, probably because Mikoto doesn't remember the events of NT22R and that would signify why she would just leave Misaki or it's just a prank, the novels always pointed out they were cooperating out of necessity so it's idiotic to think it won't be addressed later. Mikoto has been honest when wanting to protect him or save him against danger, that is what OT16 revelation was all about.

>The name of this feeling, Mikoto didn’t know. What kind it was sorted under, she didn’t realize yet. However, today, this day, this time, this moment, Misaka Mikoto knew.
>Inside her slept an enormous feeling that could easily shake her being. A feeling that could easily destroy any control that one of the seven Level 5s of Academy City had over their inner selves as part of their Personal Reality.

She never thought of it as love, nor in the latest volume was she dishonest with herself when she said she genuinely wanted to have a good time with him and she did.

>They don't get brought up again after Kamisato arc. There's barely any mental drawbacks since they have never caused her to be harmed or be reasonable faults that hinder her
A loner like her asked for help from Misaki, she almost forgot to use her own ability in NT22, if anyone takes the AAA's control away from her she almost breaks. How she views her powers has completely changed, when even in GT she doesn't engage opponents out of pride anymore, her Railgun attempt gets thwarted but she immediately recovers, Touma defeats an opponent with a higher power output than her and she doesn't bat an eye at it. She was herself surprised that she was superior to a clone in hacking. These changes are very noticeable, these aren't anything like the borderline arrogant Mikoto we have seen before.

So the Apocalypse Witch protag is gay for Gekiha right

He is fucking retarded. Absolute dumbass.

This. Also she has attacked Touma accidentally twice now, whereas OT16 hinted that it's very unlikely for Mikoto's powers to go out of control even slightly.

You have to remember this series is just shounen in LN form. Villains don't relapse, they get redeemed with only an extremely small percentage actually facing consequences for their actions.
And the very few who do pay for their lifestyle are nowhere near the most heinous offenders. The bigger of an antagonist you are, the more likely you are to get away with everything.

How about you go to your haremshit general

>she almost forgot to use her own ability in NT22
Despite being first to act Mikoto had forgotten about her ability, it took Misaki's shout to wake her up.

His preaching is annoying and it shows that it's bullshit he makes on the spot.

That's my point, using the AAA has had detrimental effects on her, on how she has become heavily dependent on it.

I like the 3 MCs gimmick so I wish there were more volumes like OT12 or NT6 instead of it being the Touma show like it was between Othinus and the England invasion

That's what makes a character good though.

>Retard hair style
>Shitty principles that don't mean anything
>Silly ability that only allows him to win fights "just because"

Will there be an episode today?

Wouldn't Aureolous Izzard be cosnidered a magic god, since he has reached a kind of kether position within reality? I'm just starting with NT, so I'm still not sure what makes a maic god beyond the mastery of magic (whatever that means). Also, how good is it going to be from now on?

4.5\10.
