She nearly could be a protagonist in Comic LO.

I read through this manga recently and it was nice, it wasn't really as amazing as some people made out but I feel thats because I prefer something that can follow up on plots and details more, or at least maintains clear chronology unless its using non-chronological storytelling to create a specific experience of a story like some fancy shmancy films do. But the absolute highlight of it all was Kon and Hotori's friendship, stuff like their growing respect and friendliness with one another throughout the series gives me fucking life, man. Kon was the absolute best addition to the manga, followed closely by Shizuka. Glasses was kind of an annoying bitch though and a lot of the time the friendship between her and Hotori didn't feel like it was having anywhere near the impact or impression on me the author intended

I think Tattsun got a bit of a raw deal because she's sort of a foil to Hotori and since the reader inevitably falls in love with Hotori it's natural that Tattsun ends up grating on them since she and Hotori don't have great chemistry with each other. Then again I don't consider it a flaw of the manga because the thing that impresses me most about the manga is how incredibly real and natural the characters are, and it's true that in real life you sometimes end up being friends with people who aren't great matches for you and hanging out with them more out of convenience than anything else.

You have to keep in mind the subtle genre shift from the start. It went from gag heavy to more scenario of the week.
That said, Sanada and Tattsun were obviously neglected since they weren't allowed to develop. Hotori's other classmates became more interesting.

I think the genius of the non chronological storytelling really shines with multiple readings. It's easy to miss a lot of details on the first read but it's clear that he put a lot of thought on the timeline.

He definitely had a lot of it planned, especially in the later volumes. Something like the guy in this chapter being the guy from an early volume definitely wasn't though.
