Why is Samurai 8 flopping despite it's agressive marketing campaign?

For me, its the terrible character designs. And the main character looks like a fucking loser. Not even a fun loser or a cool nerd relatable loser. Just some sperg.
I don't understand lads, the stores are ready for the reader's rush.
because it's terrible
How can you say that when the veterans and newcomers are both terrified of the masterful skills displayed in this work of art?
People didn't want to chew dried squid
We've been over this multiple times. Just read the archives instead of rehashing the same discussions over and over.
>spark of an explosion
Ironic considering "explosion" is the loose translation of the Japanese word for flop (爆死)
>one piece and dr.stone compete
lolwhat
how did he know?
I guess they are talking about the best artists on the magazine and samurai 8 is competing with them. Not necesarily sales.
eyeshield 21 competed with One Piece for top position in the ToC back when it was running
you were not even alive back then I assume
He knew it was going to flop and he wanted to spin it. By "spark of an explosion" he was actually referring to the manga bombing.
Been reading it since chapter one dropped, don't know why. Kind of want to see if it takes off or goes anywhere, but honestly the pacing is stupid and nothing really makes sense. In the next chapter we're getting it seems like the MC is about to transform or obtain some super saiyan samurai god mode, which is kind of stupid when we're only 40 chapters into the series.
It means the end is near
Didn't even know he was the writer of eyeshield 21 to be honest
user. When shit like this happens, it means the manga got cancelled. They have like ~8 chapters to wrap everything up.
That's why Inagaki will always be held in high regards by WSJ, regardless of your opinion or the sales of Stone.
I had a feeling it'd get axed, and based off what I'm seeing then you are correct. The author probably had to completely skip a bunch of stuff or just somehow create an ending in the next 8-10 chapters.
It really feels like the climax of the whole series. I'm thinking that Kishimoto read Vinland Saga and want's to pull an END OF PROLOGUE but it won't be nowhere near it the build up for it there was just masteful.
He's either forcing and failing at something beyond his capabilities or he's just downright flopping and closing shop out of embarassment, who knows really.
The series peaked at the battle royale
It's that fucking shitty.
1. Lame setting.
2. Unattractive designs.
3. Terrible battles.
4. Lack of fanservice.
It's not good man.
All it needs is an anime to turn things around. Kimetsu No Yaiba was literaly in the same position before it being properly exposed to the masses and recognized by the low key work of genius it is.
Honestly, Kishimoto just botched it entirely. He shouldn't have let himself get talking into doing it weekly again. He could have gone monthly. He could have toned down the exposition-overload. He could have hired an artist that isn't afraid of shading.
It would be fine if it was just a mess in one regard, like visually, but still interesting to read. But instead it's confusing to look at and confusing to read.
When the manga started, all I saw everywhere on the net was just confusion on what is even going on. From chapter 1 people had to *talk themselves into* continuing to read if memory serves.
I find it saddening that this was suppose to be the next big thing, or at least a big series in Jump like BC or MHA or something.
If you couldn't hook a fanbase by the first 10-20 chapters then I just don't think it's gonna happen.
nah, that's not true, gintama took a while too, and it developed into a powerhouse.
Yeah, I remember during the first few chapters the biggest complaint was the artstyle and not being able to follow what was happening or what was going on. I do agree the artstyle is difficult for me to grasp, especially battle scenes.
I don't like the idea of them being cyborg samurai. I don't even get how their bodies work, like they can split their bodies open and show their spinal cords? And they're machines but they can eat and defect and have sex I guess? The whole concept and premise of the series didn't make sense to me.
I thought Gintama was shit, but that's just me. I never got into it.
Did that finally end? I lost track when it started hopping magazines as some weird meta joke.
Kishimoto should just take a break from Shonen
and write a shorter Seinen manga,I think his fans would be really interested in that
>the low key work of genius it is.
But S8 isn't even close in quality.
Yes, it thankfully did. As much as I enjoy Gintama, it also has one of the worst endings of all manga I have ever read.
I wouldn't mind reading a sports manga by him. He did that one baseball oneshot after Naruto, I think.
Ive read both and the first 40 chapters of Kimetsu are much better than the 40 S8 currently has.
>this flops
>Kishi then takes over Boruto and makes it weekly again
M-monkey's paw?
this fag DO know the formula for succeful shonen but is not using it.
the formula is always to have a classic pairing of two shounens like gon and killua, naruto and sasuke then add more kids to the possible combination of homesexual ships this always work as fujobait always pay
This, just have Ufotable animate it and it will do great.
a ton of people lost faith in kishi during nardos war arc...then theres people who just want more naruto and the series is still ongoing but he's not really involved
Also, it wasn't a joke. Gorilla just kept breaking the deal until the editors got sick off it and pushed him to another magazine. He broke the deal because he wasn't satisfied with the endings, so he redid the same ending 3 times with only minor detail changes.
the amount or gender is really irrelevant (goku and bulma, for instance)
the truth however is: you can't make people like your manga when none of the characters are likeable
and your characters don't get a chance to become likeable when you have the author-stand-in cat non-stop spout exposition at the reader, i mean hachi of course, so none of the characters can actually do anything of value or interest
Like, you have to really dig deep with S8 to become attached to anyone
How much Kishi will pay for an S8 anime?
>samupush 8
>samuhack 8
>samuflop 8
An interview confirmed Kishi is a hack and his editors need more credit for molding Naruto into the hit it was.
This is actually pretty common desu. I bought manga before which had a small sheet of paper promoting other manga.
This
Y'all some fucking haters.

Samurai 8 isn't popular that's the point of the thread
Except Samurai 8 isn't really popular.
>(goku and bulma, for instance)
it was NOT succeful during that stage instead if become a megahit when DBZ had a powerful chemistry of MC and Rival around his age like goku and vegeta and a cohost of characters so fujos can make pairings
currently KnY had a powerful fujoshi following because wani is USING the formula.
but we are hating a really really unpopular thing
post the sales numbers then
or oricon ranking
DB got popular around the first tournament
You can polish a turd all you want, but at the end of the day it's still a turd.
>Popular
You fucking wish
It's weird, I understood World Trigger's "virtual" trion bodies instantly when it was explained, but thus far I still don't quite get S8's samurai bodies. They look like they're slick animated playdoh but there's something about soul too? And spines are important.
>popular
When are you taking your red pill, user?
just think of their bodies as chakra or chi that can also be tangible if they want it to be
It's better than Naruto so far tho.
lel
>Toriko gets big marketing campaign
>flops
>Samurai 8 gets big marketing campaign
>flops
Jump should just fire their marketing
That is the biggest brainlet take I have ever seen on Yas Forums, but I am not surprised anymore. I will just assume you're joking.
fuck you
you were not joking? for fucks sake user, get a grip.
It just smells like a failure.
I feel like most people are able to instinctively tell if a SJ series has legs or not.
Also the art is terrible and the premise does nothing new. Black Clover is as generic as it gets but I wouldn't consider the character designs or art quality in general to be that bad,
