I got really spooked by the clown episode in Cowboy Bebop back in the day.
Also found parts of Blue Gender pretty unnerving, especially the sexual stuff as I was young, but I think the way it treated death and humanity was interesting.
Kiddy Grade's mind control episode's whole atmosphere also had me very tense all throughout.

The first half of Shiki is pretty unnerving. It has this desperate feel to it, with the main characters playing catch-up, while the vampires are so far ahead of them and winning way too fast.

Yeah I reread my posts after I submit. I want to make my posts easier to read because they can be pretty long. One time someonw complained about one of my posts being too long but it was only about 4 sentences or so. But since it was spread across the sceen it looked like a lot. As someone who actually wants to discuss things, I have a lot to say

By the way, A-1 mostly consists of freelance work under the arm of Aniplex (Sony) and has barely any consistent staff members. It is not a traditional "studio" in the same vein as other established animation houses. As such, any such ideas of what an A-1 show "is" are meaningless because it can vary from high quality to low quality with no consistent art style.
