There are two options if you want to become powerful.
1) Just try to become a normal mage and train while hopefully avoiding the worm pit.
2) If you can somehow mentally disassociate yourself from the reality you now live in by constantly thinking of it as not real you could probably develop a realiy marbles based around fakeness or fictionality. Like you could just manipulate reality as you wanted.
But this would involve you seeing the world as nothing more than fiction which would not really allow for you care that much about others. This could lead to a villain route.
