I tried a few episodes but it wasn't my thing and if I want to get baited I'd just scroll through Yas Forums.

As someone who actually played in a music ensemble in high school, it's great. It captures the cozy feelings, the camaraderie and the stress of performance perfectly. Great show.

I liked S1 and S2 a lot, even the autism drama of S2 was great. The Liz movie is easily the best kyoani so far. The chikai no finale movie was a let down, though, at least the story is not over yet so maybe S3 will redeem the series because this is kyoani's best franchise right now.

I liked the first season a lot. The social drama was a bit much for me. Also I can't stand their use of 3d with high frame-rate. It looks like Toy Story 3 all of a sudden. And when they were performing outside in season 2, they looked like the zombies from gakkou gurashi.

I really want to like kyoani's stuff (and I often do), but they make a lot of terrible decisions.

Not hidden and not that much of a gem. It's good but the script quality drops as the series goes on, the latest movie was a drag to watch and I fear the final movie/season will be straight up bad.

First season was good. Second season was such melodramatic garbage though.

Why do people dislike the latest movie? Haven't seen it yet.

I'm a bit of a normie, dont watch a lot of things, but this iais easily the best anime I've watched
Good taste, great drawing, animation, effects, voice acting... and the feels... and Reina's and Asuka's bodies
Also I read once that Yas Forums fell for the yuri bait... you newfags disappoint me...

season 2 was a pleb filter, although i've to accept Nozomi-Mizore drama was too long in comparisson with Kumiko's sister problem.
My guess it's Kyoani realized it around the 4th episode but it was too late and decided to do a spin-off movie to finish the 1st plot, abruptly ending it at the 5th episode then rush to start Asuka's problem, leaving almost no room for Mamiko at the end

I think the pacing problems are more due to to the fact that S1 adapts one novel, while S2 adapts two novels in the same runtime.

KyoAni could have decided to leave out the Mizore/Nozomi subplot to focus more on Mamiko's arc, but they already included Mizore as a background character in S1. Kumiko's conflict with Mamiko was a big part of the reason why she cosied up to Asuka, so KyoAni probably assumed Takeda was setting up a longer-term arc for Mizore and Nozomi as well. That was a good call: we would have never gotten Liz and the Blue Bird if they left out Mizore and Nozomi's backstory in S2.

I think it is perfect in every way. S2 start is pretty weak, but it is completely offset by existence of Liz.

I have to say, I watched Liz cold without seeing a single episode of Hibike, and it was STILL the best movie I saw that year. It then got me to finally catch up on Hibike.

I watched Hibike just so I could have the full context for Liz, and ended up falling in love with both.

Yeah. But what I thought made Liz truly excellent is that it stands on its own without the context of Hibike. It reinforces for me that Yamada is the best director in all of anime right now.
