As someone who grew up in Germany with Russian parents and surrounded by Russians, I never ever noticed that.
But I have been told to appear unfriendly and that I should smile more but it just feels stupid to do so without reason. I'm not speaking for all Russians but I personally hate having to fake being joyful.
