As a filthy animeonly I'm really starting to understand why manga readers fucking hate Deku.

It feels like he's gone 50 or so episodes without any character development or any interesting challenges to make me root for him. While MHA is still far from the depths of Shonen trash like Bleach or Naruto at it's worst, I really feel like this show is entering its Buu saga. The only thing keeping my interest going is waiting for the THICC bunny lady to show up.

Both the S3 OPs had great ones; Ideals had the best animation, Story had the better song. As for EDs, none have really been that standout. No really good songs, and they've all been noncanon shite.

I was hoping animeonlines braindead, but this is Yas Forums so I imagine you're already used to hating things or you're lying and you're really a mangafag and you just want attention. On one hand I agree with you, but on the other, there's a few things I'd like to point out.
-First of all, the concept behind Deku is fine, it's mostly the execution which is fucked. The concept being a kid who undeservedly gets immense power having to deal with the fact that soon, everyone is going to be invalidated by his mere existence (as All Might did).
-Second, I'm starting to genuinely believe that Deku's writing is intentional to set up Shigster as the protag. Deku has a bland past, Shiggy is motivated by the fact the world rejected him; Deku almost undeservedly got immense power from little effort (a years basic training) whereas Shiggy turned a fickle an hard to control quirk into a fine-tuned personal nuke over the course of years; Deku has never really lost a fight, Shigs has been blown the fuck out about 3 times, and only has one real 'victory' under his belt; Deku is a characteristic blob with no clear personaility (hence his quirklessness playing a role - he's as much a madman as he is a pushover) wherease Shigs has a simple, but complex personality attributed to his isolated upbringing and has genuinely learned to appreciate his freinds along the way.

Twice has already had an inside joke that he's sounding like a protag, Spinner seems like the foundations of a protag/side protag, Compress isn't even evil, Toga is a nice girl who has been ruined by her quirk - only Dabi stands out as particularly boring. On top, Destro is a reaction image goldmine, Maruta seems to genuinely love the nomu
Meanwhile, Ochunko is a generally one-note love interest with a worthless monetary side-plot; Sperg is a sperg and his only growth is playing catchup; Shoto is an autist who, although having an arc with Endy, hasn't really grown past Sports/Provs; Iida is playing even more catchup than Sperg and hasn't changed since Stain.
If Hori wanted to, he could very well pull a bait and switch and it would absolutely work.

This is the exact moment the series was doomed to be stale inoffensive boring shit. I'm an animefag and it was obvious. The author could have developed both characters here in a meaningful way. Deku stop sucking Bakugo's cock and Bakugo eat some humble pie. But nope, gotta keep the status quo.

This episode would have been much better if it wasn't for all the overdramatic flashbacks that keep ruining the pace. Of course that's pretty standard but for a lower stakes fight like this it just feels silly.
