You know for most of history such an age gap was normal and even expected, right? A man only really starts earning good money around his 30s, while a woman in her late teens is only just starting her fertile period (which lasts until her mid 30s or so, if not assisted by medicine and IVF). If a man in his late 20s/early 30s marries a woman his own age, he's marrying a woman near the end of her fertile period. But if that same man marries a girl in her mid-late teens, you combine a woman who can have a lot of children with a man who can provide for them.
It's just common sense which is why it kills me that older women are my fetish.
