Next season when

t. Shitsha
Phos is coming for that ass next, I hope you're ready

this, Cinnabar will obliterate Ph*s

Phos and Cinnabar are both shit

Love armour was real but it wasn't sensei who wore it, huh?

>haha, remember that one time we scattered phos for 200 years and would've totally forgotten about her if not for sensei putting her back together? Good times!

just nuke everything, Phos

>Phos is allowed to nuke everything

We are the crystal gems well always save the day and if you think we can't well always find a way

Much better to let Phos kill everyone in her idiocy. She's gotten enough chances and fucked every one up.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH I LOVE PHOSU!!!

>happy genki phos is gone forever
>ventricosus is just particles floating around in the ocean
>the only way to reunite them into happiness is the genocide of every gem and condemnation of eternal loneliness on sensei+phos

that would be kinda funny desu

>Phos destroys everything with only sensei left
>Phos and sensei sit down together and look at each other for a while
>next panel introduces a 1000+ year time skip
>they're still staring at each other
>manga ends

Happy ending, try not to be too jealous.

I can't take a second Fire Punch ending, so I hope it isn't just Phos and Sensei sitting apart from one another for millennia

What if Sensei shuts down after praying, leaving Phos completely alone?

At least we've seen Phos able to commit dust when her head split open with all the gold. Plus, if she just sits inside a closed box and falls asleep, without any more light eventually she won't wake up.

But I'd like to think the inclusions will be ghosted when the prayer nuke goes off anyway, as this would really neatly tie back in to the notion of the gemstone itself being the 'shell', or how when once rots away the only extrinsic evidence left is the lifeless bones with the flesh and soul having become earth

Why did they halt the gem restoration project?

Who says no one loved Phos? That wasn't her issue, she was just hung up on being useless.

>locking shinsa in a garden copypasta
does anyone still have that?

It will end with just Phos alone. Everyone else will have been prayed away and Phos will finally start that encyclopedia titled Houseki no Kuni

I believe they were waiting for the snails to die off naturally so they could take their shells for the gems.

Yeah everyone was super concerned when Phos was (seemingly) irreversibly turned into a slug, 99% of them totally didn’t say that he was better off that way and at least was much less of an annoyance.

No, they were going to do that, but they ran into some kind of unspecified road block and stopped the whole thing.

>implying the gems are actually dusted

Well they did tell Phos that none of the gems would have any of their memories but I don't remember any mention of it after that other than saying it was paused.

A lot of fans seem to think so, based on comments I've seen
Either they stopped cause Phos was out of the picture (which would be a bit strange, you'd think the other moon gems would encourage the Lunarians to continue) or maybe the restored gems had some fundamental flaw they couldn't fix aside from the whole no memory thing

They don’t specify, just that there were unforeseen problems that they apparently just couldn’t solve.

Probably for the best anyway, it’s a lot of effort and the death of a whole race for a bunch of gems who will have 0 memories of their past lives anyway, they were effectively dead already and nothings really gonna change that.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s ever specifically stated, pretty sure it was a talk between Barbatos and Ame where they just said it couldn’t be done for some reason, presumably like says, in that there was most likely some kind of fatal flaw that they couldn’t have foreseen without having done more research.

About all of the moon gens acclimated to life on the moon in highly productive roles, Dia being an idol, Alex being a cook, Ame being a scientist etc. And Yellow the one who wanted most to see her siblings again went crazy and started rejecting her identity as a gem. It's not hard to see them just shrugging it off if Aechmea just told them even if falsely that there was some roadblock to bringing back gems with no memories of them after they already moved on and found new roles in society in a new race that even they wanted to transition to

Hypothetically though, if the gems had any parts of their precious brethren remaining(there's apparently a 'long term storage' room?) i.e if they restored Lapis who is on the cusp of their technological capabilities according to Aechmea and gave her Phos' head, they should regain some of their memories and personality.

>Lapis with Phos' head
Oh that would be fun. I put it up there with a nuPhos being 'born'.

>hundreds of thousands of years pass
>the snails eventually evolve to come up on land
>Phos becomes their sensei

KINO NO KUNI

The road block is boredom, moon gems don't give a fuck (and neither do earth gems).

The only parts they seem to have left over are pieces so small that they wouldn’t restore much of the gems mind. Even Lapis’s head probably wouldn’t give enough back to really be of any use. Only reason Phos is even tangentially still considered Phos is due to his torso being the same/his legs having a lot of his older memories too, and even then, it’s implied as well that Phos’s inclusions are way stronger than most when it comes to bonding + keeping memories.

>not houseKI NO kuni

>it’s implied
Outright stated multiple times

That’s never stated, and it seems like the moony gems would have been fine waiting for the snails to die, Ame and Barbatos talking about it made it seem like something actually went wrong in the reconstruction.

It doesn't need to be stated, we see from their society they just don't give a fuck. They totally forgot about Phos. If things aren't actively in their face, the Loonies and Gems will just ignore it even if they had a previous responsibility. Phos is human-like because Phos actually fucking sticks to her goals, the rest of them are inhuman sociopaths that shrug off pain and loss when the new Moonbox 360 comes out.

This is another hypothetical, but again assuming Aechmea has not lied and 1) they didn't keep and hide the abducted gems somewhere in a test tube or something and 2) it truly is impossible to restore gems below mohs 5: the most plausible way Phos could ever interact with Antarc again (aside from ptsd nightmares) is through putting on her foot that she was able to retrieve from her abduction, especially as it is now winter.

It's questionable if Antarc's inclusions are as powerful and detailed as Lapis' to leave a message much less Lapis' entire staying presence in them, if Phos' complex body might be rejected by it, or if it would even have any effect. But it's pretty much the only plausible way I can think of them meeting again aside from one plopping down from the Chord Shore/its many other names, if it even befits the trajectory of Phos' despairing character arc at this point.

Also I don't know if Buddhism has this concept, but in Hinduism the age of the collapse of the world is one in which society is so degenerated that the idea of morality doesn't even exist anymore. I think it's likely the gems and snails are also human souls reincarnated into other forms and the society that exists between all 3 seems to definitely lack any sense of actual morality/not being a fucking jackass.

Red Beryl should have made a cute dress for Sensei to wear when they were celebrating his birthday

All that's really said about it is that it was stopped 220 years ago. I don't think anything went wrong but rather Phos was no longer there to push for it.

I mean rutile didn’t give up on paddy for hundreds of years, same with Alex and chrysoberyl, and Dia with Bort.

They can definitely stick with shit if they feel it’s important, they just don’t like change. In this case, it’s not like there would have really been that much effort on the gems part, all they have to do is sit around for the snails to die, then the loonies will throw the dust into the vats and they just wait a bit longer for the gems to form, they can literally just sit back and relax while that problem fixes itself.

So obviously something must have actually gone wrong in the process that they couldn’t fix.

>I mean rutile didn’t give up on paddy for hundreds of years
In those cases it seems to be that it becomes an obsession, and often to the point they care more about the obsession itself then the person (like with rutile being angry that paddy was up and about because she wasn't the one to fix him, or everything to do with dia and bort these past few chapters.

That's true, otherwise I guess they would have at least considered using them to replace someone's lost body parts(especially Phos who lost everything except her torso) like how Cairngorm offered Lapis' head to replace Phos'. Though one could argue Cairn only brought it up and was willing to part with it under Ghost's influence ensuring her loyalty on some level to Phos.

It'd be funny if in that long-storage room was just a perfect, big ol' Red Diamond torso that they never brought up because it was the one part of her body Phos never lost.

I suppose it's possible the moon gems figured there was no point in restoring the dusted gems if they wouldn't even have their memories. Plus Yellow is too crazy to care, while Alex claims to be over Chryso now.
I agree it's more likely they encountered a problem though. It's annoying how Ichikawa dropped the issue with barely any explanation after building it up for several chapters. I hope it comes up again at some point.

No, Amethyst still cares, when Phos comes back after the timeskip he tells him that they still don’t have a working method for reform the dusted gems (implying at Ame and Barbados have been at least researching) and when Phos says they don’t need to he seems shocked/saddened.

We both know that's bullshit. The Gems don't actually care about each other, they only "care" insofar as they develop a hobby/obsession around "caring". When Alex actually gets a chance she decides she doesn't give a fuck anymore like says and Rutile absolute loses her shit when she realizes Pad is fixed.

The point of Phos thinking in human terms (oh Rutile will totally be happy if I fix her friend) clashes with how pretty much all other gems (except maybe antarc and ghost) see the world in terms of "shit we're autistic about". Gems for the most part don't really fucking like each other, Pads is just a project for Rutile to spend her time on rather than someone Rutile would be happy to have back. That's the point, the moonies and the gems are shallow retards without depth. The moonies literally expect to just be prayed away instead of atoning for being shit people and going to the afterlife naturally once their soul is clearly of shittiness.

Based, though I would argue for instances such as Antarc accepting her fate and ordering Phos to be quiet for her safety or Padpa willingly sacrificing herself twice to save Phos.

In regards to the Lunarians' retardation though, is Shiro proof that they are actually completely capable of finding peace by atoning without the prayer? Because I have always been a little mystified by his fate and the rhetorical question wondering if it were that simple to find peace why the Lunarians were being such shitty brats.

Oh come on, the gems are perfectly capable of caring about each other. Just a couple chapters ago Zircon talked about how he wondered how Yellow was and Nepti saying he liked Benito. They're just terrible at expressing their feelings and especially at dealing with negative emotions. They either try to bottle up/ignore the feelings or get completely consumed by them.

Literally the whole point of the story is that the gems and moonies are sociopathic assholes with the exception of a few like Phos. Sometimes they do things that aren't total jackassery but for the most part they are self-centered and can't be bothered if their actions are hurting someone else. The point of the story itself is that immortal beings have different values than mortals and for the gems/moonies it matters more to have something to occupy their time rather than valuing the existences of others- neither gems nor moonies can truly die (from their perspective anyway). Phos is the only one that gets really fucking autistic about her friends being stolen and Antarc/Ghost are the only ones that have actually died to save a friend (Phos). Non-shit behavior is extremely uncommon in this story.

you're dumb

>why

I would say it's because introspection and admitting you're the problem are difficult things for people so absolutely self-obsessed that they're literally damned to moon-hell because they think everyone else is the problem. They do shitty things because they were shitty people when they were humans. It would take a massive moral reversal for them to suddenly realize that salvation and nirvana come from within and easy shortcuts like being prayed away are wrong.

If I made a guess though, Phos will probably order sensei to pray. He will "pray" but it will have no effect, leading to chaos on the moon as they realize they were deceived by the The Professor that programmed sensei.

>deceived by the The Professor that programmed sensei.
On that point if the Professor made sensei to pray away the moonies, and sensei calls professor the "last human" why wouldn't she have done it herself. Either aechmea is lying (big suprise there) or there's something involved that even aechmea doesn't know about (like needing to find peace to be prayed away or something similar).

The gems (and moonies) definitely have skewed priorities due to their immortality but I'd say it's a lot more complicated than them all just being self-centered sociopaths.

If Houseki no Kuni gets a season 2, how in-depth will they explore the moonie-Cairn interactions?

Attached: 1582603070825.png (213x614, 266.77K)

A season 2 won't even get there. It would end before Phos returns to the moon with the gems that follow her.
