22i solidified his superior writing over Negi's with the route based ending alone. Giving us 5 true endings over a half-assed, rushed, pseudo-harem dream like sequence of an ending that didn't even commit to the winning girl means that 22i ultimately was the better writer.
Popularity =/= Quality, and 5toubun suffered because of Negi's selfishness.
