Shitting on popular stuff only gives us the feeling that you're below average intelligence. Someone who's actually smart would praise things that aren't necessarily praised by the popular masses, yes, but it's extremely rare for popular stuff to actually be objectively bad. It can at most be overrated. And that definitely isn't the case for Haruhi after season 2. And as obnoxious as Evafags can be, the show is objectively a masterpiece.

I hate otaku culture and that prevented me from enjoying the show when it aired. After many years I gave it a try and realize it's a masterpiece. The movie is together with Akira the best piece of animation ever made.

otaku sphere is a small and relatively closed group, there's very little "conversion" going on. People get into it young and stay in it, rarely convincing any new blood to join.

In such tight groups, polarization always happen. The group will move into the extremes. In anime's case, extreme degeneracy. Wait another generation, it'll be pure shit then.

It's Madoka. Shinsekai Yori, VEG and Parasyte are also better than Steins;Gate. Steins;Gate is a good show but calling it AOTD just makes it obvious you haven't seen many shows from the 2010 decade outside of it and isekaishit.

Not really. The only Jap comedies I find funny are this, Watamote, and Welcome to the NHK. I enjoy the worldbuilding in this and the comedy and character reactions are pretty varied. There's none of that boke/tsukkomi act plaguing anime where the humor is just in some character overreacting to something absurd. I find it much funnier than the comedic shows people tend to fellate such as Gintama and Konosuba. If anything people tend to disregard the show without seeing it because of the sex.

Worldbuilding-wise, it's interesting to see how characters respond to different things depending on their species. Each species has its own kinks and value system (elves value mana because they can actually sense mana, cyclopses find large eyes attractive since its linked to their ocular powers while being indifferent to chest size, mermen with fish-like fertilization instincts have egg feitshes towards things that disgust humans) and the show explores some of the weirdest topics such as the morality of eating the eggs of something sentient and actually presenting a reasonable argument for why it'd be acceptable. Definitely the best worldbuilding I've seen in a comedy.
