Had nothing going for it

When does arthouse ever sell?

Eizouken is doing well.

I don't know what masses like or want especially these days, but the best bet here, if you're looking for a reason, is that it didn't appeal to them and thus didn't sell.
Captain to the rescue.

Might as well say that BnHA is an arthouse.

More arthouse than this lowbrow yurishit.

Too artsy and therefore fartsy

Too creative, too niche in its visual approach, too episodic, didn't cater hard enough to a select group of degenerates, wasn't made by some trendsetter studio, had virtually no marketing budget. The better question is why it received virtually no attention by the critics circles. Seems like the perfect show to honor at, let's say, the Japanese Media Arts Festival.

The madmax and the "scary" house episode's were 10/10 the rest was 3/10 barely 4/10.

Can't see a pedo considering this attractive.

Because everyone already knew about the incoming production trouble, even before the first episode aired.
Even the saguga twitter circlejerking dorks knew it and feared that it would be manifested soon enough.
And lo and behold, it did, and then they were angry that they had to sit through and watch it.

it was boring?

>Why did it fail?

Same season as Yuri on Ice

Yes, I am sure a top 10 best selling anime of all time "failed".

Did it fail? What was it supposed to exceed at? It was likely a project to establish 3Hz as an animation studio, showcase their abilities and help Oshiyama gain some fame among anime directors. Flip Flappers was never supposed to sell millions, nor did the studio need to earn anything from sales, since it was already paid to animate this.
Anyway FliFla established itself as a cult classic. I hope 3Hz will be doing well. They at least have work, although it doesn't seem to have much artistic merit.

I think wanted to say that the reason that flip flopper failed was because of Yuri on Ice, which however will never really make sense, since YoI is for fujos, and flip flopper is some male yurifag shit. There's no overlap in target audience.
Whatever actual other reason there is for flip flopper to flop, it can't be because of fujos, who never intended to waste their money on yurishit for males anyway in the first place.

>It was likely a project to establish 3Hz as an animation studio, showcase their abilities and help Oshiyama gain some fame among anime directors
3Hz had already been around for years and had made various shows prior to Flip Flappers. Oshiyama was an extremely respected animator already who had served as episode and animation director in Dennou Coil, Dandy, worked as KA on various Ghibli flicks, A letter to Momo, Xam'd and Fafner's OVA. He sure as hell didn't need any more exposure. Not like he has served as a director since then anyway. Don't think Shishigari was ever even funded.

>3Hz had already been around for years and had made various shows prior to Flip Flappers
They made Celestial Methode and Dimension W. That's pretty much it.

In fact, when you fail to manage the resources so badly that the last episodes look just as shit and QUALITY ridden like the average Tatsunoko show, then it would rather reduce your reputation among the peers, as you'd have proven to be incapable of doing a good enough job

The producers that put out money for the show likely expected a return, yes. And seeing how 3hZ is doing lately, I doubt they were satisfied with the outcome (not that Oshiyama or his webgen crew were part of the studio, anyway).

>as you'd have proven to be incapable of doing a good enough job
Certainly, that's why Anno was allowed to direct more and more anime, right? Totally not lkike everything he touches runs into budgeting issues. Only, uhm, Gunbuster, Nadia, Evangelion, KareKano. So 4/4 shows he's directed.

The latest episode never looked that bad, you are blowing it out of proportion. In fact, the best animated scene was in the latest episodes.

>The producers that put out money for the show likely expected a return
Proof that.

Stop being retarded. Eizouken is 0% arthouse. Arthouse means it's a work done primarily for the sake of art rather than to be a product. Eizouken is a product. It is an adaptation of a manga, backed by a proper production committee, with the primary objective of making money. Now I'm not saying that this is a bad thing, or that Yuasa himself is a bad director (and he has done actual arthouse stuff, like Cat Soup) but Eizouken is still not an arthouse by any means. I think it's arguable if FliFla is either, but at least it's an original.

Flip Flappers is a cult classic. It flopped hard, but it has a fanbase, and people still remember it fondly. It was unique, imaginative, and fun. It was a passion project that represented what anime can truly be capable of.
Sora yori mo Tooi Basho is a time flop. It sold well, but its fanbase is dead, and people don't even remember it anymore. It was generic, melodramatic, and boring. It was a corporate project (it was also shilled by its producers Kadokawa and CR) that represented how you can play it safe to make sure your show sells.
Then there are shows (such as Evangelion, Madoka Magica, etc.) that can be considered timeless successes because not only were they successful, but they still have a sizable fanbase, and people still remember them as one of the masterpieces of anime.

Being bad might be a reason.

Anno made good money with everything. The flip flapper failure was a loss of money and ended in a shitshow.
It's bad, and nobody was satisfied with it. The end. The market has spoken.

It shat the bed once it tried to bring in a plot.

There is absolutely no reason to pit these two anime against each other. I smell a false flag.

funny how nobody has any problems about the plot outside of this very website. I wonder what that reason is.

Yorimoi: manufactured product with popular seiyuu hitting every checklist to make sure the anime sells.

Flip Flappers: imaginative anime that experiments and tries new things.

Gunbuster's last episode actually cost more to be made in black and white, and Eva's last episodes were due to scheduling rather than budget

Why do you even bother with a newfag? Just tell him to lurk more.

Because it’s Yurishit

How do you not recognize timeflop user? Are you new? He's been shitposting YoriMoi since after it aired, and he coined that retarded "time flop" term which he's been trying to push and make stick. At first he was pitting it against VEG (he's a VEGfag and he was super duper salty that YoriMoi did better) and then he started comparing it against other stuff. The best thing is to ignore him, but people keep falling for his shit.

Really felt the writer, director and animator change.

Also really felt the budget, time and motivation change.

>super duper salty that YoriMoi did bette
Stay delusional, CR shill. Yorimoi is scientifically proven to be a time flop.

What's going on here?

Attached: 1560469888359.png (1021x1035, 1.42M)

was this yuri

So it's a battle between Netflix vs. Crunchyroll?

Yorifags got mad that their show (rightfully) got called a time flop.
CR can't even compete though.

Alright, this thread is lost. It never had a chance.

Of course. That's why it failed miserably.

Because FLIP FLAP FLOP. ahahahahahahaha. yurifags btfo. morfags btfo. gay lesbian faggot whities btfo.

Just like Flip Flapper. Should have had tits sucking on tits like Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid, if it wanted to be a good yuri show that sold moderately well.

>producers that put out money for the show likely expected a return
Infinity is just a money laundering company that loves funding yuri show, just for the sake of it.

delet

Didn’t Vinland saga flop worse?

>Anno
>always plagued with production problems
>always made masterpieces
>always made money
>just bought back his old studio

>Oshiyama
>production imploded
>show flopped
>studio is dead
>he's unemployed

As expected from the master.

Because it was very, very bad.
Seems like an obvious answer.

>time flop

There's that term again

>>producers that put out money for the show likely expected a return
>Infinity is just a money laundering company that loves funding yuri show, just for the sake of it.

They seem to be putting money on A3 which is having awful production schedules and doing the new Higurashi
