Final chapters:
Acts 59 & 60
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon
Yes, I've decided to end this with a double-feature. Rereading the chapters, it just didn't feel right to split them up.
This may or may not be the last thread: I've found out that missdream.org has recently uploaded the two RunRun issues we were missing for the Sailor V chapters four months ago.
By the way, today (March 6th) is Michiru's birthday. So leave your wishes.
It seems fitting that we end this dump, that started with Sailor V on Minako's birthday, on another senshi's birthday.
That flower actually exists. Still a strange way to end the first volume of the original release.
Act 59.

For some reason, I find this double page spread impressive. It's unusally empty.
(magazine version)
Say ... doesn't this "Chaos" guy seem strangely familiar?
Chaos, by the way, is depicted pretty much in accordance with the Ancient Greek meaning, where it's less of a mixed-up state of things and more of an absence of everything - an absence of material and structure.
The name is onomatopoetically linked to yawning - a gaping abyss.
This, by the way, is the big twist I spoke about multiple times over that course of the last months: All "big bads" were basically the same.
I had actually forgotten that Chibi Chibi and her are the same person in the manga ...
As for who she is, well, more about that in the next chapter. But don't expect answers.
Act 59: Done.
I've always preferred this to the anime's reveal. In general though Stars was far better in the original manga though.
>I've always preferred this to the anime's reveal.
Yeah, I agree that the whole ending is a lot more powerful here.
60?
>60?
Soon, user. Gotta build up a bit of tension. (Magazine extras first.)
Cute!
Magazine stuff!
Small handbags for small girls.
That's that done.
Give me a bit of time and I'll return with the final chapter.
Are you going to dump something else after you're done with Sailor Moon/Sailor V?
Either way, thank you for the threads, can't stay for this one unfortunately but I've really been enjoying them so far.
>Are you going to dump something else after you're done with Sailor Moon/Sailor V?
Well, I think I'll take a bit of a pause now. I am considering dumping Cutie Honey at some point, but it's not really a dump-friendly. It's overall shorter, and it isn't split neatly into chapters (and as I have no access to the original magazines from the 70s, I can't retrace where the cuts were made back then). And I'd have to put even more things behind spoilers or even censor some nipples for the board rules' sake.
That being said, I think that it would make sense to dump it after Sailor Moon.
Have a nice evening, user. And see you maybe in the extra thread some time next week (possibly Thursday or Friday) with the missing magazine releases.
I will miss these threads. Shame I couldn't catch up after all. Can't believe it's been almost half a year since that big SM thread where you decided to start dumping Sailor V manga on Mina's birthday, which encouraged me to watch the show for the first time. Thanks user.
And Happy Birthday, Michiru
>Shame I couldn't catch up after all.
No worries, user. Going at your own pace is always more imporatant for the experience than reading it with a thread. And I'm always happy if I can inspire people to go on that journey themselves.
So where would that put her in the hierarchy of Greek Mythology?
Chaos, you mean? "Chaos" is the state of the universe before anything is created. "Vast emptiness", like the "tohuwabohu" in the bible.
So it predates all the gods of the greek mythology.
Directly after that, there were Uranos and Gaia (Heaven and Earth), which gave birth to Chronos (Saturn, the time god) and his siblings, who then gave birth to Zeus (Jupiter), Hades (Pluto), Poseidon (Neptune) and Hera. The rest are offspring to Zeus, though there's an alternative genos myth for Aphrodite (Venus), where Chronos kills Uranos by literally cutting off his penis and the blood causes the sea to foam, and out of that foam Aphrodite is born.
I don't remember you ever dumped at this hour.
I meant Usagi, but WOW that's weird, especially the Aphrodite part, uh what the fuck?
I don't remember if I asked this before, but what are your thoughts on the musicals?
>I don't remember you ever dumped at this hour.
I did in the beginning, when I dumped Sailor V chapters.
I decided to start a bit earlier today because:
1) This thread will take a bit longer, with two chapters and a few more magazines.
2) I wanted to post it at a time when it's actually still Michiru's birthday in most parts of the world.
Usagi isn't really part of the Greek mythology. There is a moon goddess named "Selene" (sounds familiar?) or "Luna" in the Roman version.
Usagi's name is rooted in the Japanese believe that rabbits are associated with the moon. There's an ancient legend of the Shinto moon god (Tsukuyomi) visiting Earth and a rabbit who could offer nothing to him sacrificing himself to him, and as a reward the god took the rabbit to the moon with him. There's the nursery rhyme about rabbits making mochi on the moon. And there's the interpretation that the moon craters' shadows form the shape of a rabbit.
And, yeah, the Aphrodite part is fucked up.
I've only seen a handful of them. Found them okay, but I don't regard them as in the same way as the anime or the manga.
Okay, time for the last chapter.
Act 60.
