He fucked up.

He didn't, L got killed, he survived. Everything past that is just "no, you can't make a story where murderer wins".

it was him and some fanboy vs. Near, his team, the police and Mello.

And Mello was unpredictable as heck.

It´s not plot armor writing like Johan winning because Tenma made a last retard decision

Killing lind l taylor

overconfidence, he wasn't careful enough

he didn't know what he was doing

This. They had to make him go full retard once or the police would be fucked.

This. Light from the first part would have never made the stupid mistake of not explicitly telling mikami to double check that his death note was legitimate by testing it out before coming to the meeting place. Literally dumbed him down so he would lose.

And all he needed to do to never come under suspicious was throw a tennis match. Light deserved to lose.

Je assumed Near couldn't possibly see through his epic plan, so failed to formulate a backup plan for in case he did.
He spelled it out in his aside near the end "L would have thought of this, but you're not L so I didn't even bother"

By intentionally letting the police know that he has access to the internal information about the case.

Near was smarter.

meanwhile, in 2007

Didn't one of Near's detectives pull some photographic memory perfect recreation bullshit with the Death Note?

no they took photos with one of those miniature spy cameras I'm pretty sure

Ultimately, as smart as Light was, his pride and ego was bigger, and that fucked him over.

He got too cocky.

What a classic

By exposing himself to L initially, killing the fbi guy who was tracking him + his wife and not being able to talk his way out of suspicion without losing his memory. If it wasn’t for the lady shinigami being in love and the 2nd death note with the girl light wouldve lost long ago

Is there anything like Death Note but not shit?

I'm honestly surprised I still have all this saved

as in two masterminds enganged in a prolonged battle of wits, or a guy getting a supernatural cheat and trying to be as smart about abusing it as possible?

BUHH NOO I WUSS SUPPORTING KIRA HOW CULD HE LUUS...
NO STORRY WITH MURDERER WIN .. REAL LIFE IS EDGIERR .... IM EDGYYYY

Both is good
Liar Game was doing well too but that turned to shit

How many times with you make the same fucking thread and how many times with you faggots post the same fucking reply and continue same fucking discussion.

Erased held that same cat&mouse detective structure, i think that show’s pretty good

I heard Erased was shit

Akagi.

Fucking retard. Part 1 had terrible writing. You never seem to see asspulls when they're convenient to Light.

the author is a hack who didn't know how to make the ending and got lazy.

Hang yourself wojakspamming twitter immigrant.

ID Invaded might be up your alley

Please post more, its fun to relive the nostalgia

Oh fuck, there's a webm of this? Gotta save

You see asspulls convenient to L too. Like when he arrests Misa after meeting her at the university because suspected of being the 2nd Kira. If it wasn't for L's interference, Light would have won in the moment Misa saw L's real name with the shinigami eyes.

>Part 1 had terrible writing
>The part that made the anime famous and got everyone into it
You see. You must be one of those who thinks every fiction with smart charcters is written by dumb authors. Your arguments literally make no sense and you make yourself look like you just say an anime is shit just because. Have you noticed how stupid you look?

"terrible writing" is a meme complaint

He only moved because he knew they were going to arrest Misa this day.

The number of absolutely shitty tactics that only worked thanks to convoluted shit or plotholes is insane. Light managed to get found in 5 FUCKING CHAPTERS. The entirety of part 1 is a mess and L hanging out with Light is incredibly dumb. It only works because it feels cool, but it's fucking dumb.

He made several mistakes that he would have never made before
>He knew he was under surveillance meeting Takada and convinced the team to remove the cameras, but keep the wire tap on him
>Decided to pass notes since there was only audio
>Like a drooling retard he used the note pads supplied in the hotel room instead of just telling Takada to bring note pads in her purse, or even just have them type their messages on their phones and not send them
This part really fucking annoys me. Light was built up to be way too fucking cautious to make a slip up like this. Even if they didn't mark the note pads, they could have just easily asked hotel staff if they had to replace the note pads for that room.
>Lights entire plan with Mikami hinged on making a fake notebook and having Near steal it
>Didn't plan to have Mikami test the notebook out before hand to make sure it's the real one
>Didn't tell Mikami to just keep a piece of the notebook on him at all times, sewn into his wallet or clothing and use that piece for the plan
I really hate the whole "well he got cocky!" aspect because it's just fucking stupid. He went from being so insanely cautious he risked causing a house fire to hide the death note, to just begging to get caught

Light had the best laugh
youtu.be/ADiqEHS7SWw

He was cast perfectly in sub and dub

>The number of absolutely shitty tactics that only worked thanks to convoluted shit or plotholes is insane. Light managed to get found in 5 FUCKING CHAPTERS
Okay how about you tell us what the problems were instead of just saying there are problems? Can't you even criticise a story properly? If you can't then you're just too dumb for Death Note.

>so insanely cautious
HE GOT CAUGHT IN 5 CHAPTERS

Simpler times

His location got narrowed down in 5 chapters. As soon as he realized just how much he fucked himself with the petty killing of Lind L Taylor he was basically untouchable. Hell the only reason he even has to give up the death note is because Misa was a high functioning retard who got caught

Why did L even find a need to reveal Taylor was just a decoy?
Imagine if the pretended to be dead, released a statement claiming the police weren't going to pursue Kira because he killed their top detective, and then just threw agents at him and shit.

Probably to not cause a mass panic. People were already starting to notice that someone was mysteriously killing criminals. If L did nothing after he provided a live execution to the viewers, everyone who saw would fucking lose it.
Also there was no real way for him to get an investigation team out without someone leaking the info.

He wanted to show to the public that Kira wasn't all powerful.

L is a showoff like Kira and that was basically the beginning of their game of cat and mouse.

>As soon as he realized just how much he fucked himself with the petty killing of Lind L Taylor he was basically untouchable.
HE LITERALLY USED HIS DAD'S COMPUTER AND TOLD L HE WAS AMONG A LIST OF LIKE 5 PEOPLE

He used his home network that his dad had his computer logged into, and let L know that he was among someone who had access to police information, that included their families and close friends. It may have been dumb, but even that move didn't stop him

IT PUT HIM ON A LIST OF 5 PEOPLE

The same way he won every single time up to that point. Retroactive asspulls. It isn't a shounen for no reason.

No, it did not. It put him on a list of literally every police officer with access to the files, and their families.

Based

It was a pretty terrible anime.
You didn't really need another thread to find that out, did you user?

Liar Game was great throughout though. Only the ending was kinda bad, but even then it was just more underwhelming than had. It seemed to be hinting at a sequel or something that didn't happen.

>authors: “If we wrote Light to be logical it would make the story boring, which is why we gave him his arrogance and made him make emotional miscalculations such as killing Lind L Taylor out of his pride
>everyone since then: “WhY iS LiGhT sUcH aN iDiOt”
I wonder what people would’ve thought about Death Note if Light played it out as logical as possible and didn’t let his emotions get the better of him, people would probably say the story was boring
I don’t have to wonder, Platinum End already exists
