Why does Season 2 seem to be so universally reviled on Yas Forums? To be honest, I liked the whole concept of Tekkadan trying to expand too hard too soon, shitting the bed, and ending up being scattered to the wind .
Is it because it's pretty much a 'semi-bad' end, which is rare in Gundam?
My only real qualms with the whole thing were the fact that Gaelio was still alive and Miyazuki going full Eva-02 in the finale

The dumbest thing about the whole ordeal is that Gallarjorn bringing their own civil war under control actually boosted their credibility and standing with the public. Fucking what? It's like a guy shooting himself in the foot and then congratulating him when he bandages it up.
Yeah, but he didn't personally suffer any losses or real issues either. So basically, the asshole bad guy wins and ends up doing the shit he killed the other side for anyways.
It's...kinda shit. Has no real narrative payoff with all the sacrifices Tekkaidan made outside of Atra having Mika's kid. Even Kudelia seemed irrelevant compared to Rustal.
Some gamecard revealed that Rustal almost shit himself when shino tried to dainsleif him and his subordinates never looked at him the same way. Word got around and his god complex died.

It is kinda shit, although I felt like he didn't need to get his just desserts; think it was a bit of a throwback to the whole 'human debris' thing and that people in power will constantly send others to die and order others killed and still look good for it.
I think the lesson for Tekkadan was (and it's a bit cliche) that the grass is always greener and they should have just been content to enjoy the family that they had created.

It became repetitious. A character would get 2-3 episodes of characterization, and then they'd die. The problem isn't that they died; the problem is that their characterizations and story moments were too similar. Specific details would change a little, but not much.

Season 2 is the first time I've ever seen (in a Gundam series, not counting UC) superior numbers and firepower actually winning the day. I remember than in 00 and Seed, the escalation was so fucking stupid that two units could defeat that entire armed forces of the fucking world.
Having the protagonists get shot to pieces by railguns, and simply overwhelmed by sheer numbers, was a pleasant surprise.
One thing I like is that after he gets into space, he never even tries to fight Mika again. I'm serious, other than a skirmish in Bael's chamber, they never clash again. And even then, Gaelio's focus is on getting away.
He won, and all he had to do was kill McGillis. He got absolutely everything he wanted. What a fucking Chad.

It was overall just a badly written mess. Like most Okada shows people see the potential at first but as usual Okada either loses interest down the road or she just doesn't know how to write a good ending.

I just stopped giving a fuck. The series felt like the same shit over and over. The plot felt like a loosely structured recurring loop with changes. Bizzare.
S1s EARLY episodes are great though.
Because it was more boring than s1 and had characters written as such blatant hatebait(iok being a screaming wrench in everyones plan despite being beloved in his factions men) and self inserts (juliet surviving a million times and there to fuck tekkadans momentum when its convenient) along with stupid shit(everything involving bael despite s1 showing notchar as being a thinkingman) to move the plot along just to lead to OMG TRAGEDY.
Genuinely felt insulting to my low intelligence to think that they can write this crap and think theyre doing something clever when its so damn transparent about their purpose for each new character. MS designs and the notmonster hunter episode were sick though.
Rustal and Gaelio should've died in the finale. Iok should've died to Naze and Amida's attack.
Just those changes and the ending isn't so bad.
There wasn't a single mention of Agnika Kaieru or Bael in season 1. It's all McGillis thinks about but it never came up in the first season. Makes it seem like a bullshit copout.
Also, McGillis didn't take any Dainsleifs with him for the final battle against Rustal? The second season just made McGillis a lot dumber so the antagonists can win in the end.

It's pretty hard to enjoy something if you sorta dislike everyone. At the end you only want the one mad guy to win because it would create massive chaos.
I don't get why everyone hated the finale and ending of S2. The main characters were boring characters without any character development or charisma. McGillis going full retard with his Bael autism and shitting the bed hard made the finale interesting and gave him interesting characterization compared to the generic Char Clone characterization he got in S1. It was also great to see the villain win for once, especially considering how boring and unlikable the main characters are.

You know, they didn't actually have a choice. If they didn't back Chocoman's power play, they'd have lost out on the economic front and been ground into irrelevance. Basically they had no real options. Or rather, all of their options were bad.
It's a Yakuza story, the one that ends with all the protagonists dead, in jail, or limping away to start a new (more humble) life far from anything to do with their old ones.

It felt like they were doing that thing were you get all subversive and get all "hah, that plucky band of young soldiers, united by shared pain? They all just fucken die and the bad guy wins and they just shoot the guy in the ancient mythical suit, and we'll throw in a bonus that there's even more child slave soldiers now". Gundam has had a habit of not necessarily rushing to meet expectations but this just stunk of deliberately taking the most boring edgy path every time. There's basically nothing left to like about it.
Except most of Tekkadan's characters achieve their personal goals. How is that edgy ? IBO wasn't edgy at all.
