I recently reread VS after the anime, and the farm arc was genuinely fantastic. Baltic Sea War, however, was a huge mess. In a sense, it was meant to feel chaotic and random (it was all about Thorfinn being able to find the "right" answer in a very difficult situation), but it ended up being silly an not an enjoyable read at all.

The monthly release schedule was the worst thing about the farmland saga. The arc itself is good, but waiting a month for barely anything to happen was a major pain in the ass back then.
