What does Yas Forums think about Shinji Takamiya/Itsuka Shido as an MC?
Certainly in the Anime he doesn't have many chances to shine. However, in the LN's he shows a great character development and surpasses the "Shitty Harem MC" Barrier.

Actually a manly MC

Door kun?

He was quite good, but goddamit I can't stomach the whole forced Touka-centric everything during last 3 volumes.
It's almost like IS v2 but Touka is actually likeable dumdum while Houka is insufferable cunt tsun.
And it helps that Shido has his own character while Ichika is your run-of-a-mile faceless ultra-dense protagonist.

convince me he's good, I only know up to the third season's worth of info.

So he finally kissed the clock?

Sniper bullets have been fired in his heart, he was destroyed by ice fragments that travel as fast as a shotgun inside a dome, has suffered 3rd degree burns, has been hit by winds with the force of a hurricane, Miku put an entire city under mental control to catch him, Ellen pierced his chest with a sword, was humiliated publicly and his social life was almost destroyed, witnessed the destruction of his city and had to travel in time to fix it, was evaporated by a laser beam, has a satellite pointing at him all times, went to space and was hit by several meteorites, only to then have to fall back to earth with almost no protection, was erased from the memories of all the people who knew him, died dismembered and repeated the same day 204 times. And more shit happens to him. Man has been through a lot of shit, but at the end of the day he doesn't give up to protect the Smile of the girls.

Shitty harem MC

everything sounds fine and shit, but the time travel stuff and repeating the same day is a based trope. Gonna have to pick this up again

I thought this too

He's one of the few harem mc that enjoys character development like Issei or Godou

Yes, he actually almost put the bone of his sword on her in Vol 16, but like minutes later he was brutally killed by Ellen and an Army of .

BABY BABY BABY!

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Orpheus!

The LN's are finally ending and they told a great story until the very end. If we ever get to see a 4th Season of the Anime, we are going to watch 's (A Spirit that is DEM' s Prisoner) Five years of Inhuman Torture, and maybe we get to see 's True identity reveal.

One of the best written harem MCs out there, which is not hard to accomplish but still a decent character. Too bad the author is so obsessed he is willing to absolutely disregard everything he did with his character just to write a fanfic about Tohka as last arc.

Shidou and Shinji are two different characters. In the end the whole thing with Shidou having Shinji's memories went to nowhere thanks to the author and/or Kadokawa wanting to milk the series for an extra year.

I don't think he ever kissed the original Kurumi, only clones and in the first game he also only fucks clones.

He actually kissed the Original Kurumi in order to seal her Reiryoku in Vol 19. That was the only way to reach Mio, so he did kiss the Original Clock.

Yeah, it's pretty much the case of 2 Souls that had the same Body. Sadly Shinji died young, but at least everything was part of Mio's plan, and she gave us the Shido that we all know today.

Are you sure it wasn't a clone? The main reason Mio revealed herself and killed Kurumi was to prevent Shidou kissing her because then he would have sealed all the spirits and also have control over the time travel bullet to change the past which would have ruined Mio's plan. Did Tachibana once again forgot his own plot? Well, to be fair, volume 19 was filled with plot inconsistences and introduced stupid shit that wasn't even properly foreshadowed like the spell to become Mio tier. Girls being able to have more than 1 crystal which introduced a lot of issues and so on.

Am I missing anything if I skip the earlier volumes of the novel after watching up to S3?

Yeah, it's says that once Shido kissed Kurumi, he no longer felt pain when using the angels. That means that the Kurumi he kissed was the Original. Also regarding Mio's plan, her plan wouldn't never succeed because the soul of Shinji Takamiya died 30 years ago, and the memories that she had of him weren't enough to bring him back to life. Shido told her that harsh truth when they were in the Beach double date created using .

I don't think it was even that. If I remember correctly, it was Mio recreating his memories the best she could hoping his reincarnation would grow to be like him and also remember her. Whatever the case it didn't really matter because the author never brings up that plot point again after he kiled Mio. Also, Mio didn't shape his Shidou persona. It was an accident that happened due to those memories Mio implanted within Shidou's mind which caused him to be in zombie-like state as Kotori mentioned in volume 1. The Shidou persona was developed like some kind of coping mechanism to suppress those negative feelings and memories and as result his personality was the exact opposite.

Start from Vol 12 if you want, since the J.C Staff's version of it was a disaster non worthy of the title of Adaptation.

The truth of Mio's plan is that she was going to use the dead corpse of Shinji Takamiya to create a new life. Originally she was going to give him Immortality since the beginning, but as is impossible for a human to handle so much Reiryoku. She gave him the Power to seal Reiryoku and fragmented her power into 10 Sephiras to create the spirits and make the one who would be Shido to seal them and gain their Reiryoku. Once he sealed all the Spirits she would erase his memories of his current life as Shido, and replace his memories with the ones that she had of Shinji.

>her plan wouldn't never succeed because the soul of Shinji Takamiya died 30 years ago
That's not the point I'm trying to make. The very reason Mio showed up and killed Kurumi was because she didn't want Shidou to seal her because Mio first needed to turn him into Shinji or else he would have become immortal and of course oppose Mio's plan but if he actually sealed the original Kurumi that tells us several things.
One, Shidou didn't really change after sealing all the spirits so why would Mio even show up in a premature way and kill Kurumi if nothing was going to happen?
Two, why Shidou didn't just use the time travel bullet right away after sealing Kurumi if that was what he wanted to do to fix Kurumi's problems. Did he just forget about it? or did the author just dropped the entirety of Kurumi's sins like it was nothing? Oh, wait that's exactly what he meant to do when he introduced the main antagonist.
Three, why didn't Shidou use the time travel or rewind bullet after Mio died? It was because he needed some stupid reason to have Tohka take the crystal which led us to this awful final arc.
Four, entire novel and especially in vol 12 we were told and shown Shidou was a potential threat the more spirits he sealed. However, once he sealed all the spirits nothing happened? He didn't become a spirit, immortal, went berserk or anything. In the end that plot point went to nowhere just like everything regarding Mio.
Seriously, I don't think Tachibana thought thinga through when he decided to finally introduce Mio which makes sense seeing how he handled her character and the plot was completely disregarded in vol 19.

It went all to shit when we confessed to retard

cute clock

I know all that. What I'm saying is that she didn't really have any way to control how this new boy would grow and what his personality would be after the memories she put in his head didn't do much. Regarding Mio's plan, volume 19 once again shits on consistency and since it was revealed a girl can host more than a single crystal. That open the questions: How many crystals can a girl possibly have? If two is the maximun why not give two crystals to the first 5 girls make the plan much shorter? If there is not limit? Why not give most of the crystals to a single girl? Tohka was very easy to seal. Why not give her 5 cyrstals and make Shidou seal her? Oh wait, that would have made the novel like 10+ volumes shorter. In fact, thanks to this wonderful idea it was possible to end the series in the first 4 volumes. Are you starting to see the issue here? Everything is so vague and poorly written that I can't help to think Tachibana expects the reader to be a complete retard and never question such things.

DxD in general sucks unfortunately.
But I miss Godou's series.

How good is the dating sim game? I've only seen up to season 1.

Tachibana surely expect us to drill a hole in our heads to understand his latest volumes.

It's a dating sim game. You pick up a girl then date girl, simple as that. Only the first game is can be considered canon so there is that.

You should watch the two remaining seasons to have the best experience, then you could search for the Light Novels if you want to fall in a Crippling Depression. The Visual Novels are on 60% Discount on Steam if you want to give them a Try.

There is nothing complex about it. It's just bad writing and either the author not having a clear direction for his series or the publisher wanting to extend the series beyond what the author had planned. Whatever the case is, this final arc is a mess.

If what you want is date your favorite girl then it's worth checking up. Only the true route is plot focused if that is what you are looking for.

As long as the Ending is well Well-written, I don't care about anything else.

>As long as the Ending is well Well-written
But we are already in the final arc. So far nothing of importance has happened. The author is already making Shidou act like he only cares about Tohka when he was completely unbiased during 19 volumes. It's a three long volume arc and it feels so bland, uneventful and rushed like there is not passion put in it. I can read some fanfiction in Wattpad or Fanfiction.net and I would get the same experience.

Not sure about Issei, he can be annoying and feel a bit cartoonish at times but Godou was great

Check the date.

It' a joke, but seriously Shidou does look like P3 MC there. I don't think it was on purpose, it's too clever for Tachibana.

Your fault for choosing her.

Everything looks bad in the anime. Hopefully, next season will be cancelled due to Coronavirus.

Wait until you see S4, you'll be regretting those words.

Did you also think season 3 would be good just because they changed of studios? Were are stuck with JC Staff and even if they choose another studio, the same will happen since the director is still the same.

Could have worked better in a romace series with Reine as the love interest. Don't know why you would write a harem where some of the supposed harem members are not even in love with the MC.

Sup Chusito.

Yeah, no. The DAL anime is considered to be a joke in Japan after two awful seasons and now they are in a crisis thanks to that virus I wouldn't expect studios to deliver good products.

I heard clock is permanently kill and not in the harem in the main series so they decided to make a spin off series about clock in order to appeal to the mad clock fans outrage is this true?

No, the spin-off is not even being written by the same author nor it has Tsunako as designer and Kurumi is also a different character. It's a rejected fate spin-off Tachibana decided to put DAL's logo on it because he likes Fate series.

Based Nasu

I mean, Tohka was obviously inspired by Saber.

But wait is clock is actually kill?

Who?

>xD
fuck off.

clockslut

All spirits died.

I don't even know who you are.
