When I heard they were making a live action of Death Note I thought it was impossible to fuck it up. The plot was already something you would see in some western movies/books. They could just take it as is without any changes and it would be accepted by western viewers. And they did fuck it up. They completely ruined the story.

So how can anyone expect anything from S;G which requires lots of changes to make it more western friendly?

It's based on whatever figures they receive from a bunch of market researchers, the people who they think will most easily part with their money

Calling edge of tomorrow an adaptation is pretty generous, it's far more inspired by the original than based on it. It was still good though, and I liked the few nods to the original they included.

There are a few good anime adaptations out there.

that was horrible. it ruined the entire premise . the effect gained is a symptom of becoming a enemy relay. the signal will be broadcast from you in time and the guy had to kill the lady who had the ability longer than he had it and lost the ability after she became the transmitter relay. so killing the queen means nothing AND it seemed to entirely skip the gravity of the situation. in the manga all but japan is lost pretty much and even that is being taken. so humanity faces a invasion its already lost thats still underway. in the movie its like well tons of shit isnt lost yet right they could be ok right

ots clear in the manga that the victory will be fleeting for humanity as its a rare side effect of the aliens using the signal to change time. most wont develop the ability and then they become liabilities eventually. 2 cases out of the entire invasion and the guy wastes tons of time at the begining not realizing whats happening dying over and over. no telling how long he has left until he is a liability

Okabe calls Kurisu a bitch in the second episode/early part of VN. Daru is a perverted otaku and plays eroge. Science;Adventure series also shows america/west like a bad guy obsessed with power like in MGS. Okabe sexually harasses Kurisu at times.

What's important is it appeases the Chinese market. America being portrayed as the badguys is a plus.

Oscar (Okabe) will still sexually harrass and call Christina a bitch, but the director will preface that he wanted him to say that to highlight sexism in science and the #metoo movement. They'll also put a trigger warning at the beginning of the movie, problem solved.
