I dropped in the Orc-Empusa arc IIRC, I liked the variety of races and magic, the characters were fun too but the novel have two flags I really dont like: OP toddlers and mass producing OP followers.

My thoughts is that I hate how the author wants you to think Van and Vida are the good guys who did nothing wrong when that is blatantly false. Van does all kind of morally dubious shit like unnatural undead reproduction experiments, brainwashing and soul breaking. Vida is a huge slut that betrayed humanity. Instead of helping humanity after the war she decided to replace us by fucking monsters and evil gods and creating new monsters to inherit Lambda. This supposed Goddess of Life and Love even fucking brought Vampires into the world. Sure Alda made some mistakes and Bellwood was a dumb piece of shit but at the very least Alda cares about the world and humans. Heinz did nothing wrong and Van's hateboner against him is stupid and irrational.

That's not how this works
For starters, Van is has a long ass lifespan and is neigh impossible to kill, and if he dies he can come back as undead.
Secondarily he is on the path of becoming a deity in Lambda, meaning a true immortal, in which case his influence will be indefinite. And he could make undead subgods.
Thirdly he is developing all sorts of technology which could eventually make undead a civilized race even without him.
Fourthly there can be new death mages, there is already one and Legion which a limited death mage.
Finally his children with other gods could outclass his undead the way his dragonspawn is entirely broken.
