It's not a terrible idea, if I were you I'd either put the entire 1k into btc or nothing into btc

If you want to make a lot of money over the next 6-12 months then go with something riskier like link or xtz

Btc and eth are safe options that will make you decent returns short term, with the potential for great returns 5+ years down the line

Super safe: 1k in btc

Safe and smart: 600 in btc, 200 eth, 200 link

Riskier with potential for great gains: 500 link, 500 xtz

Even riskier: 1k link

And I wouldn't go all in on xtz, but this is all just my opinion

Every week a Low cap coin moons violently because it doesnt take much money to eat through the orderbook, while btc requires much much more money to move the price. Its basic risk and reward. Crypto is already high risk and reward but btc is low rr when compared to alts even more so on low cap alts. Its a pretty basic strategy to not diversify when you dont have much to play with.

You'll make gains with btc. Depending on how long you hold, its not too late. But if it were me, with only a grand, id put it in a low cap coin and hope it moons so I can increase my btc eth or link stack.

I'm assuming OP is ready to put 1k in right away, which isn't something I would do myself unless we found ourself in some crazy situation, like the Corona crash, prices drop to insanely cheap levels

If it's under normal circumstances though maybe he would be best to invest it bit by bit depending on how the prices move, my only worry though is we might enter a bullrun or mini bullrun in the next few weeks, making this right now the best opportunity
