Investing just 20k into a Vanguard fund for 30 years would net you $1M
I could retire on that at 55. Even better if I put in more than 20k. (Right now I save 70% of my 70k paycheck so I'm investing 35k).

I honestly plan on retiring in my mid 50s.

Exactly. With even a halfway decent job, if you don't care about yachts and lambos, it's pretty easy to go at 55. That is, if the whole thing doesn't fall apart first or hyperinflation doesn't kill your gains. And what happens if the market crashes within a year of your retirement?

stop mocking me you asshole

Good luck faggot. I retire in 5 years from LINK

make it 2 years

If you're not retired before 40 you have failed at life. Some would argue before 30 but that's a bit ambitious in my book. Definitely by 40 you should have enough money to do whatever you like and free yourself from wage slavery.
