what are the downsides of purchasing a condo?
What are the downsides of purchasing a condo?
fuck you richfag
>breathing the same recirculated air from 5000 coofing boomers crammed amin your building
>sharing elevators or stairs with them
hoping it was built well despite your inability to find it
dealing with stratas
condo fees that don't properly cover maintenance
I don't understand why people buy condos, smaller upside than actual land, more downside
You don't really own it.
>I don't understand why people buy condos, smaller upside than actual land, more downside
If you have some super high paying job in a major city and don't wanna deal with commuting everyday it makes sense.
OP here. the real reason I want to buy one is to have a place nearby to take girls home and do the deed. the location would be where there's a lot of young people maybe some bars.
I get what your saying in like 10 markets globally
a condo is just always going to be a condo though
even the smallest detached property has the potential to get upzoned and the ability to 5x from that
Buy a house and land instead brainlet.
Also, buy UND before main net, duh.
khando WOOOOOOOOOOOOW
>what are the downsides of purchasing a condo?
HOA, full stop. Especially when you have no control over how much it'll increase at a time.
Yep, and you might be slapped with a humongous special assessment if you buy into a condo with unsound financials.
Even with good finance, you might still get slapped with assessments thru things beyond your control, like the board might decide to repave the parking, or the pool is found to require major overhaul.
Just feels like u are getting nickel and dimed.
This plus
>betting on hugely inflated prices in subhuman cities where everyone is miserable
>Annoying as fuck neighbors and you can't just move away easily
I mean, if you have 10+ million, who cares, go for it.
HOA fees always go up even the the building will get shittier and shittier cause it will be managed by retards
You are at the complete mercy of your neighbors, from loud music and stinking food leaking through your cheaply-built walls to .
this. assessments are the big negative.
good luck with that surprise bill for $2k for "refinishing the tennis courts and painting exterior"
Y'all poor ass nigga bitches itt
Also faggets
Owning a condo is kickass
Hoes love it, it doesn't vanish in cat. 4 hurricane, costs are minimum, comute doesn't exist, etc.
Stay poor
Why are you all acting like condos are by definition expensive and luxurious? Over here they are the cheapest form of housing.
>Hoes love it
Right. cuz they aren't paying for it.
Most of these are poorfag condos so they don't apply to me.
1. Your concierge will message you about every little thing
"Mr.user. your visitor is here should I send her up to your unit?"
"Your food is here, should I send it up mr user?"
"We moved your car for garage cleaning, let us know when you need the car and we'll bring the car to you"
2. Then they ask you to politely tip them via vacation fund.
3. Your neighbours are all fucking snobs. Don't like them at all.
4. Have to small talk with your neighbors in elevator, shared spaces etc.
5. Have to attend hoa meetings. Fuck this shit.
6. Fuck getting anything repaired and installed. Have to coordinate freight elevator with your front desk. Have to install/repair something? You have to ask the cucks living below you.
7. I'm no rich fag but your neighbors are. They always throw parties and shit and flex with 911 turbos, rolls, bentley etc. You are always reminded of your status. Penthouse niggas run this shit.
You can rent it and ask if the above still apply
the people around you.
>I don't understand why people buy condos
in some places, like where I live, if you dont buy a condo and don't have 30k to 60k down payment to throw at a 300k for an actual house when the minimum wage is less than a thousand euros a month. so options arent great, and this is in a euro country
they're american
Whats the difference of an Appartement and Condo? (non-burger here)
Or are you just trying to sound fancy
you own a condo you rent an apartment.
A condo is an apartment that you legally own. You're paying a mortgage and related HOA fees/property taxes on a shared living space instead of paying rent to a building owner. Typically they are more spacious and a bit fancier than your average apartment. Like an apartment, there are also rules and stipulations you agree to when making the purchase, most of which will fuck you over when it comes time to perform maintenance or upgrades, as you aren't completely free to start messing with plumbling, HVAC, electricity, knocking down walls, etc.
Arguably better than renting because you're not directly throwing your money away, but its also arguably the worst homebuying option because ROI depends on you being able to convince someone else to buy a fucking condo from you.
>its also arguably the worst homebuying option because ROI depends on you being able to convince someone else to buy a fucking condo from you.
that is an american point of view, in much of the rest of the world, condo living is the norm
God damn do I hate those penthouse niggas
living in a nigger infested city, having niggers for neighbors, living high off the ground, expensive, for the same price you could get a giant house and put that money down on a mortgage, condos are for niggers who have small down payments. if you must get a townhouse at least it feels like a house inside. or like two condos
Condos in America are just investment and speculatory properties. If you are not a foreigner looking to park money then condominiums generally are not worth it. The downsides are HOA, thin as cardboard walls, high price per sqft, little to no automobile parking and no storage space. An American can get all of the perks of a condominium with a townhouse for less.
If you don't have a family and are quite young, then condo/apartment is a good option no? If you are like 22, you can buy an apartment and when you have a partner by like age 30, you can always sell the apartment and buy a house. Living in a big ass house alone seems like a big hassle. You have to like maintain the whole thing. No point on renting the apartment when you're gonna live there for years and can get a low interest home loan from the bank.
