Besides the fact that you may very well be royally fucked if you intend on buying USO, is it even a high risk high reward type of situation? Say futures pick up some steam and july-august contracts aren't looking bad, would the payoff be worth it, or better than if you had switched to USL?

That's right, my little moron. No they're not. Turns out USO massively underperforms it's underlying asset after and during a period of high volatility. Maybe that is because of all the losses the fund makes by rolling over contracts that fluctuate wildly in price. Really get's the noggin joggin, huh?
