Yeah, but Kim doesn't rule the country by himself, he works with high ranking military officials. So there's a good chance he doesn't hold absolute power. And i would imagine that a woman ruling wouldn't sit well with those officials. Of course, since this is NK we're talking about we can't know for sure how power is divided there, so I could be very wrong.

After Kim Jong Un took power he was in a power struggle with the Songun (millitary first) faction. If you will recall he had his uncle Jang Song-thaek executed. And there has been an economic shift in focus from the traditional military, towards nuclear deterrence and consumer goods. Seems like the balance of power has shifted away from the Songun faction that surrounded Kim Jong Il.
