AU dude here I opened play account and sold the ASX200 - didnt go nuts and use all 50k pf my play money of course - rather just a 100 busk of it as if I was using my real head-earned.
So far am 10 bucks up today. So far so good.

well, the thing is that, for that OP, the move was almost obvious: oil dropped in the US, so it'd also drop in NZ. it's in a different timezone, so he only had to wait (or simply sleep) to do it.
and that's the thing: if you KNOW prices will drop, shorting is the obvious move. now, I'm talking out of my ass, because I've never done it... but I'll be opening a test acct soon.

Well, that's what the demo account is for - to learn with.
I spent $24.00 play money on selling the ASX200 - was 18 bucks up at one stage but just now it rallied, so I closed out with a few bucks profit.
Chicken feed I know, but just getting a feel for the way this moves vis a vis market news etc.

you can't really learn with the demo account unless you place trades of value the same percent of your equity that you would in real money.

Part of the way they fuck people on this app is how it's very diffiicult to get liquidated with 50k equity and realistic trades
