Well the thing is that you actually do have to prove that your are good with money. My parents never did listen to me but then I got a good coding job next to my uni and worked my ass off every weekend and wednesday and investing all of it into eth and link. The reason why everything went up again so fast after 2008 was to avoid deflation. Basically everything they did was because of that. Once deflation is inevitable, then the dollar appreciates in value. But deflation won't last forever. We will have inflation afterwards. And therfor it would not be a bad idea to hedge a small ammount of cash with silver.
Not saying that you should go All in.
