He's doing fine as long as he continues to contribute to his 401k and doesn't touch it.


The recommendation is to have the equivalent of one year's salary by age 30 and he should be well beyond that in 4 years time. It's good to have ambitious goals, but you also need to realize that not every is gonna make 250k/yr as a software dev in San Fran. 45k is a livable wage in many places.

And this why you'll stay broke no matter how much money you earn. You're too pussy to put up with a 90 minute commute. I did a 90 minute every day last year JUST FOR COLLEGE. My dad has done 2 hour commutes for his job and he is a contractor. In fact, most of my neighborhood has similar commutes because this area is full of contractors who commute to DC/Baltimore/Virginia for work.
