What do you drive Yas Forums?

You know cars are an investment too... right?
I pulled this bad boy out of a field for $1000
Got it running with no issue
Currently restoring it

why tf would you salvage something for a grand? let alone any value?

Volkswagen squareback are rare cars these days, user.
For comparison, 23 million beetles were produced. A little of 2 million squarebacks were made.
The body is completely solid medal except for 2 places that are easily replaceable
A fixed up squareback is worth 20k
This one gets about 26 MPG
I like classic cars, but I’m not a meat head.

This is what I drive

Neat
What am I looking at

A terrible Chrysler product.

Unironically based
A few years back there were still some people who would ride horses around my town
Haven’t seen them in awhile.

$1k + engine/trans/wiring repair/parts (and TIME not least sourcing parts) for a kinda cute car with unfortunately very limited market appeal

and let’s face it someone who actually wants to drive a quirky 70s wagon is probably not going to have very deep pockets

but if ur restoring for personal reasons, to keep, nice going

'94 Toyota Supra with YEET plates lmao.

Any /melb/fags here? Taking offers for the plates.

Noice.

Would you offer an opinion on what would happen if a "Cash-for-clunkers" style program was tossed out in order to move cars off lots? Think there's a possibility of it happening at all? It would be fun to get new wheels on the cheap, but I'd also be sad for the older models who would end up scrapped, especially rare ones like that fieldboi.

Yes I’m restoring it for myself as a daily driver, thank you user
Not sure what color to go with yet. I’ll probably settle for this orange with a beige interior, but anything is still on the table

I don’t know fren, but in the US I know that there are programs that accept free cars from people who don’t want them anymore. They’re usually old junker daily drivers that are worth next to nothing, but drivable
You can try to see if you can quality for one of these programs if you want a free car
Friend of mine gave away his early 2000s Jeep to one of these programs. He could’ve sold it for a quick buck but he’s a nice fella

A shitty car

2018 Audi S4

It's expensive but super fun to drive. I'll be paying the long noses in Germany 400 bucks a month for the next 3 years.

>Inb4 finance lol wut a fag
I make higher returns in the market than equity in a depreciating German car. Auto loan is 3%.

I know buying expensive new cars is a stupid decision from a financial perspective but enjoying a fast car it's one of like two things in the entire world that motivates me. For me it's worth it.

I've had to work on them enough to know. Maybe if you got the 6.4 you won't have any engine issues for a few.

A nigger car

Hey! That’s not very friendly of you!
Go stand in the corner. You’re uninvited to my party

Have you driven the older v8 model from around 2005? I had one I wanted to trade in on a 2015. Was super disappointed at the difference in power. Even our salesman agreed the older v8 seemed quicker.

Wow you got fucked up on that deal. 7% depreciation per year on top of 3% interest. All in you lose 10%. Also why do you have such shit credit to be borrowing at 3%?

Time will tell, but I love my new car. Pic related is what I’d be driving, forever - if there were still real choices. America gave it all up.

fucking based car bro

I have a 99 subaru i daily I bought it for 1500 bucks after my infiniti shit the bed. Easiest fucking car to maintain and work on.

>Also why do you have such shit credit to be borrowing at 3%?

Maybe he's not a 40 year old with a long history of credit? 3% isn't even that bad.

You can always spot a schwug mobile by simply looking at a car’s wheels and suspension.

Thank you fren
I don’t like driving new cars. Everything is electric, everything is too smooth, when I drive a relatives new car I get 0 feedback of the road itself, I don’t know how people drive new cars.
A Honda looks like a Ford looks like a Toyota looks like a Nissan
All these new commuter cars look exactly the same.
I miss when german cars looked german, French cars looked french, American cars looked American, Japanese cars looked Japanese
And I say this as someone who’s a zoomer.

>Implying 3% isn't awesome for an auto loan
Nice bait retard

The v8s were cool but f****** nightmares to take care of from what I've heard. The 2018 I have is incredibly fast and if I decide to keep it after warranty, I'll throw $1,500 worth of parts and software upgrades at it and it will just be a monster. I think it came with 330 some horsepower, they were saying online that I can easily bump that up to about 500 horsepower.

Restoration user here.
30 yrs of service.
Any more pics . I can give you a assessment of how to tackle it. Looks fairly rust free. How the floorboards and firewall.
Have you considered restomod?

I hope you have some skill and time because subcontracting out work adds up quick.

It was. I absolutely hated it. The engine was so close it rubbed a tiny hole in the transmission line and leaked everywhere. I had to put it in "service mode" basically remove the entire font end to repair it.
I think ours was rated at 355 makes sense. I bet a tune alone would make those newer ones into monsters.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's 333 horsepower for the 6 cylinder supercharged. So that would make sense that the v8s felt faster they probably were, and I would imagine a power band of a naturally aspirated V8 is far more aggressive and satisfying than a supercharged V6.

They say it's like a pulley or two and then an ECU tune to add 200ish horsepower.
