am i the only one that is not nostalgic about the past? there sure was some good thing, but the technological stagnation was so blatantly in your face at that time. AI was dead, space exploration was dead, the internet and computers were on the right track but it was still to early to imagine it extend meaningful beyond gimmicks and Excel.

... everything you're describing applies more to now than 2000. 2000 was exciting. Computers and the internet were evolving rapidly, modern software was becoming a thing, we were starting to talk about AI and maybe putting a mission to Mars together.
If anything is a period of stagnation compared to the 20th century it's NOW. Hardware hardly improves anymore thanks to hard physical limits on power and transistor density. Silicon Valley is riddled with counter-productive SJWs and retards. Everything revolves around mobile and Mars is basically dead.
